A Message From The Director
Greetings!

Happy Valentine’s Month!

Mary Sullivan
Senior Nutrition

Thanks to those of you who have already renewed your 2014 memberships! We look forward to serving you for another year. Thos who have not had the chance yet, we strongly encourage you to do so as soon as it is possible for you. This month we’ll host a Valentines / Birthday Party on Wednesday, Feb. 19th with our famous 20 foot Banana Split and entertainment. Also, be sure to come try your luck at our annual “Monte Carlo Casino Night” on Friday, February 21st. And….last but not least, don’t forget to put Saturday March 22nd on your calendars and plan to attend our annual “Dinner Auction” our largest fundraiser each year. This year we will return to the beautiful “Pavilion Room” at Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights with featured entertainment and Special Guest Leslie Lowe of KHQ—TV. If you can help with any New items for this year’s auction, we welcome your donations! Contact our office or President Darline Divine at 483-8290. Great overnight tours for 2014 are now out with fun destinations. So, reserve your spot with a deposit as these trips fill up fast! Lastly, I want to thank the many of you who have personally welcomed me back full time to HSC. It is good to be “home” again every day!

Darline Divine
President

Best Wishes for a Great Month of February! Jerry ☺
It’s time for our annual Dinner/Auction, and again it requires a lot of help from our entire membership. Our goal of 200 silent auction items and 300 tickets sold is a big challenge, but one that I believe we can achieve. It is the main fundraiser we do each year and a big part of how we pay operational expenses that support many of your programs. Please consider helping by donating a silent auction item, buying a ticket to the event, or simply making a cash donation! Show your support by helping in whatever way you can!
Thank You !

I saw less activity in January at the center, I hope to see many of you back this month! February and March are active months at the center. Staff and volunteers are busy bees working hard to ensure our Dinner Auction is a success. If you’d like to help us, you can support the Dinner Auction in a couple of different ways. One, you could purchase a ticket and attend, if you can’t attend the event you can donate a new item for our silent auction or donate money. If you are unable to contribute financially we need volunteers to help in different areas. Let us know now if you’re interested in volunteering to help with the Dinner Auction. Like they say it takes a village to raise a child, it takes all of our members to keep HSC running! Mark your calendar with our Valentine Birthday Party on January 19 th, our entertainment will be the Senior Serenaders and we’ll be building our famous 20 foot banana split! Also join us for Monte Carlo Night on Friday February, 21st.

Hillyard Senior Center’s trip and tour policy for travel. The policy is to establish voluntary participation and assure fair and equal access to sign up for any and all future trips and tours.

Ada Davis Dorothy Jilbert Al DeMaio 

Our travel policy will incorporate call in, mail in, and walk in reservations. The center will utilize a first pay, first go, method for registration. Phone and walk in reservations DO NOT guarantee a spot on a trip. Participants who call in and request to be signed up on a trip but are unpaid are simply considered to be on an interest list. When participant’s money has been received and a receipt has been issued, then and only then is a person considered to be a registered participant of the trip and their spot guaranteed. Interest sign ups and paid registration will be done at the Hillyard Senior Center office (4001 N. Cook 482-0803). Sign up for all trips will be taken at 8:30 am on the 1st working day following the receipt of the newsletter. (sorry we cannot control the order in which everyone receives their mail). Participants living outside of the normal van pickup boundaries (North to Weile, East to Freya, West to Division, and South to Indiana) will be considered for a trip home pick-up on a individual basis depending on the location of the trip’s destination. Non members of the Hillyard Senior Center will be allowed to participate in one trip prior to becoming a member. Hillyard Senior Center will no longer refund participants for cancellations of day trips or tours. However, if a cancellation is made at least 5 working days prior to the trip, a credit will be issued for the use of a trip at a later date. NON-Refundable Deposits apply to overnight tours. Individuals requesting a home pickup should add an additional $3.00 to the trip advertised price. Registration and participation in a travel trip is considered a voluntary acceptance of liability and shall not hold HSC responsible for any participants own negligence.
