The Point of Liberal Arts Education Nowadays, getting a degree in liberal arts education can be considered a waste of money. No one knows what you can do with the degree and think it is not possible to get a job. People only think about how much money a degree can give you in the future and not the other skills you can get out of Liberal Arts. Liberal Arts can help you think of many possibilities to any situation and allow you to act in the proper manner. Once people realize this, they can make better decisions about their life and obtain a special level of awareness that can affect others as well. If you were to ask someone, what is liberal arts or what do you do with a degree in liberal arts, chances are they probably won’t have an answer. Liberal Arts Education is an area of study in which you acquire general knowledge instead of a specific area. You can learn about history, languages, and even literature, but not many people know this. For those who don’t believe in getting a job with a liberal arts degree, there are many job areas in which they can apply for. Many different fields include medicine, law, business, social work, and even publishing, all of which are successful fields. The humanity department in schools tend to lose their students over the years. “Harvard had a 20 percent decline in humanities majors over the last decade, a recent report found, and most students who say they intend to major in humanities end up in other fields,” (Lewin).
