REVISED METHOD STATEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SUMP FOR DRINKING WATER, CULTIVATION WATER AND STORM WATER Excavation  Excavation will be done using an excavator of adequate capacity and to a depth of 150mm above the required level, excavation will be carried out to an extent of 1m beyond the perimeter to ensure adequate working space.  The last 150mm depth will be excavated, trimmed and leveled manually just before placing the screed.  A 150mm thick block masonry wall with 150x100 stiffener columns reinforce with 2 Y10 bars, will be built as shown in the drawing. This will also act as the external form work for the sump wall.  A sump will be formed by excavating a pit in the working space for dewatering in case of rain water getting in to the excavated pit. Screed  50mm thick Grade 15 concrete will be placed as screed for the horizontal surfaces. Water proofing  Approved torch-on water proofing membrane will be applied over the screed and against the exposed surfaces of block wall. 15mm thick,1:5 cement sand mortar rendering will be done over the water proofing membrane as a protection layer.

Concreting  Grade 30 concrete with specified W/C ratio will be used. Concreting will be carried out in the following sequence. 1) Bottom slab of storm water sump including a 150mm high kicker.

Catch pits in Floor slabs  Catch pits as shown in the shop drawings will be incorporated in the floor slab and the top surface of slab will be sloped towards the catch pit at a gradient of 1:250. Form work for wall will be removed 24hrs after concreting. damp patches etc and will be marked. Water Tightness  Individual sumps will be tested for water tightness after removing the form work and supports to the cover slab and cleaning the sump. The sump will then be emplaced and the corresponding areas of wall from inside will be observed and any weak or suspected areas will be treated with water plug.If the drop in water level is beyond the acceptable level.2) Wall from bottom slab of storm water sump including the bottom slab of cultivation and drinking water sump with a kicker. Form Work  Form work will be erected as per the sketch attached. The process will be repeated until the sump is proved to be water-tight The same procedure will be followed for the other two sumps. The sump walls will be checked from out side for any leakages. 3) Walls from level of cultivation and drinking water sump to a height 150mm below the soffit of roof slab 4) Cover slab Cover slab will be concreted in one pour. Water Bar  A water bar as specified will be placed at all construction joints. as shown in the drawing. Form work for slab will be removed 7 days after concreting or after achieving is 28day strength. Water level will be checked after 24hrs. Pipe inserts  Pipes passing through the walls will be placed at correct locations and tied to the reinforcement to prevent displacement during concreting. . All pipes will have puddle collars to prevent water penetration. The sump will be filled up to the FWL at the rate of 2m in 24 hrs and left for 24 hrs.

External Water Proofing  On successful completion of the test for water tightness. 15mm thick cement sand rendering will be done over the waterproofed as protector. The treated vertical surfaces will be cured by covering with wet jute hessian and the soffit of cover slab by applying MASTERKURE 181 .Internal Water Proofing  A cementitios waterproofing material –BARALASTIC(MASTORSEAL 540) (copy of literature attached)will be used. The material will be mixed to achieve a brusheble consistency and applied over the prepared surface with a brush. loose particle and adherences prior to application. Back Filling  Back filling with approved material will be done in layers and to each layer thoroughly compacted layers not to exceed 150mm thick. Waterproofing will be with the application of approved torch-on waterproofing membrane over primed surfaces. Stainless Steel Rungs  Stainless Steel Rungs will be placed through the shuttering for wall prior to concreting so that they will get embedded in the concrete . the external surfaces of walls will be waterproofed. The surface will be thoroughly cleaned and washed to get rid any dirt.
