Admissions Policy St. Columba’s is a Catholic Primary School provided by the Diocese of Salford as a Voluntary Aided School. The school’s Governing Body is the Admissions Authority and is responsible for taking decisions on applications for admissions. The governing Body has set its planned admissions number at 30. Admission to the school is controlled by the LA in the first instance using information gathered from parents/carers on their preferences collected in the Autumn Term. The school then receives a list of the children from the local authority who have a preference for our Reception Class. These names are put in order according to the admission criteria set by the governors. The re-arranged list is returned to the local authority who then informs the parents/carers which school their child has been allocated. (Usually in the Spring term). The following criteria are used to form a priority order if there are more applications for admission than the school has places available. 1. Baptised Roman Catholic children who are in public care and are resident in the parish of St. Columba’s. Other baptised Roman Catholic children who are resident in the parish of St. Columba’s. Other baptised Roman Catholic children who are in public care and resident in another parish. Other baptised Roman Catholic children resident in another parish. Other children who are in public care. Other children.
