Gauges and rneasurlnq instrumenls

For checking pump perlormance, it is re- commended lo provide apressure gauge on lhe discharge side and apressure va- cuum gallge on lhe suction side. Screw lhe gauges into lapped neles in lhe discharqe and suction flanges respeclively. To protsct lhe gauges, lest cocks should be provided. Open pelcocks only lo check lhe pressure. The callbrated range 01 lhe gauges ShoulO be ai least 20 % higher Ihan max. pump head ai zero flow (ciosed valve). To check lhe load 01 lhe electric motor, an ammeler should be provided.

Check that lhe roto r can be turned by hand. Alter a long period ol inactivity lhe rotor may be stuck and should be íreed belore startinq lhe purnp. 1I necessary, loosen lhe gland, remove lhe packing and clean the shafl.
