EXPERIENCE
(2012 to Present) GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY SPECIAL PROJECTS DIRECTOR (Office of the CIO) Working with Georgia Techs Office of the CIO. Tasked with leading Georgia Techs information technology (IT) master planning initiative as senior project manager. Coordinating with institutes executive leadership, IT governance committees and campus constituency to develop and implement Georgia Techs first IT strategic plan. Achievements: Serving in a project leadership role tasked with implementing an enterprise level video and web based communications strategy comprised of in-house and outsourced service options. Serving as team lead to develop enterprise strategies for various institute services to include cloud based collaboration services (Office 365, Google Apps), unified communications, customer relationship management (CRM), mobile device management (MDM), and business analytics and reporting. Collaborating with Georgia Techs executive leadership to formulate governance policies and procedures focused on business continuity and regulatory compliance requirements.

Establishing continuous process improvement measures and metrics for improving institutes IT service effectiveness. Leading institute efforts to design and implement an enterprise service for managing workflow, selfservice analytics and reporting, document management and communications. Initiating and leading institute efforts to implement an enterprise level access control, training and monitoring service that will be used in the management and support of Georgia Techs academic/research equipment and laboratory assets.

(2009 to 2012) GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY - Atlanta, GA DIRECTOR, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND FACILITIES (College of Architecture) Assumed responsibility for the oversight and management of building operations in addition to technology management duties (see Director, Information Technology position below). Oversaw technical and fixed assets for five schools and five research centers distributed across eight locations. Facility responsibilities included overseeing space planning, operation and maintenance, space build-outs, major renovations and repairs (MRR), and capital improvements. Lead team of twenty full time and part time employees. Achievements: Successfully merged three separate and diverse departmental functions and budgets (IT, building services, and fabrication shop) into one organizational unit. Reduced the new departments operational and personnel budget by over 30%. Formulated and implemented master space plan which introduced spatial and organizational efficiencies for both the colleges academic and business units. Integrated future technology uses into the college/institute long-term master space plan for efficient adaptation of emerging technologies as part of a buildings programming and design. Initiated and spearheaded the development of virtual building information models (BIM) linked to backend operational data of all colleges buildings resulting in greater efficiencies related to asset management and operations. Operated as the College of Architecture project manager for the $9.5 million restoration, rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the historic Hinman Research Building. Managed the $2 million renovation/restoration and technology upgrade of the colleges 1950s historical auditorium and administrative offices. Planned, designed and oversaw the construction of two high-tech collaboration labs for the Schools of Industrial Design and Building Construction. The project required a high degree of engineering and design effort to successfully integrate three tiers of collaborative technology ranging from low-end web technologies to purpose built high definition video conferencing systems. (1999 to 2009) GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY - Atlanta, GA DIRECTOR, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (College of Architecture) Developed IT strategic plans to meet the colleges short and long term technology requirements. Managed a team of IT professionals tasked with providing technology services for seven academic programs and six research centers. Responsible for identifying and fulfilling all technology needs that support organizational business, instructional and research objectives. Prepared, justified and managed operational and capital investment budgets. Executed and managed service level agreements. Achievements: Initiated and supervised the selection, evaluation and implementation of an institute wide desktop management solution. Led vendor negotiations, organized and managed product evaluation and testing.

Worked with Georgia Techs executive leadership to formulate campus technology usage policies and procedures focused on compliance with regulatory requirements. Developed and implemented campus level business continuity, disaster recovery and data security plans. Managed the design, planning and implementation of IT infrastructure and client service initiatives that improved delivery of application services and reduced end-user support requirements. Emphasis placed on new virtualization technologies - server, desktop and application virtualization. Negotiated institute wide licensing contract agreements with equipment and application vendors; participated in establishing institute hardware and software standards for State of Georgia vendor contracts.

(1997 to 1999) MICRO CENTER EDUCATION CENTER Atlanta, GA PART-TIME INSTRUCTOR Facilitated instruction of a wide range of technical and software application courses. Demonstrated strong training and communication skills. Modified curriculum by incorporating supplemental teaching materials and integrated practical IT experience into the course instruction. (1989 to 1998) MAJOR NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION - Atlanta, GA DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS Managed all technology, facility, and transportation operations for a 20,000 member organization. Effectively controlled a $1.5M operational and capitalization budget. Managed $20M real estate portfolio. Managed the routing, maintenance and operation of a 15-vehicle transportation fleet. Achievements: Executed major network and application upgrades which included installing fiber-optics backbone and switched 10-gig Ethernet to endpoints. Built, designed, and managed organizations first intranet, introduced a single source collaborative solution and negotiated vendor contracts to provide customized accounting and customer database solutions.
