Week 1 ISL Individually, read on Principles of Teaching Listening and Speaking Skills: Differences between listening and spoken language Listening Process Conventions of Spoken Language Make short notes as evidence. Article 1: http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1O29-CONVERSATION.html Or other appropriate articles related to speech discourse 2 Individually, Students write down feedback and comments about the video clips they had viewed. Article 2: http://paraelink.org/7s2c/c7s2c_7.html Or other suitable articles related to Factors Affecting Listening & Speaking Skills Download appropriate video clips from YouTubeor from other sources (e.g.: Practicum Unit video recording of student teachers) 4 Individually, students collect Dokuman Standard Kurikulum(Year 1-3) and HSP (Year 46), study and analyse the documents. In pairs, students surf the internet and download video clips on techniques for teaching listening & speaking skills. In pairs, source various types of activities for the teaching of listening skills for young learners and compile. Individually, students gather sample lesson plans from various sources and compile. In groups, students produce 2 remedial & 2 enrichment activities. Peer check. Students source reading materials on Selection & Adaptation of Materials & Materials and make short notes. Draft listening and speaking tasks based on individual selected learning outcomes. Individually, look up for selection and adaptation criteria of materials for the teaching of Listening and SpeakingSkills. Compile in the portfolio. In pairs, students identify the similarities/ differences in: 1.Teaching versus testing; 2. Accuracy versus fluency Individually, students source materials on assessing listening and speaking skills. They also compile information on the importance of feedback & support on listening and speaking skills. Students gather samples of micro-teaching lessons from various sources and compile.
