Feb. 19, 2008

Feb. 20th This week, we’ll look at what happened in history between the Old Testament and the New Testament, plus we’ll see how the New Testament came to be, and why we think it’s accurate and reliable.

The Big Picture: New Testament Overview Outreach Night How to Study the Bible No DV8—Spring Retreat

Feb. 27th March 5th March 12th

Wednesday Night, 7:00 to 8:30

Your Help May Be the Key
Next Wednesday night, we’re not having DV8. Instead, we’re changing things up a bit from the normal format. The aim for this is for our students to invite friends that do not go to church anywhere to come with them. It will be at the same time as DV8, from 7:00 to 8:30, but we will not do Small Groups on that night. We will worship with music, have some other activities, and I will give a clear presentation of the gospel. You can help by 1) making sure your teen is there that night; 2) encouraging them to bring friends, and 3) by offering to go pick them up and take them home. Our goal is to reach students that need to know Christ, so please do whatever is possible to help them get there next Wednesday night.

Lifting Us Up
* Pray for the adult Student Ministry Leaders, as they lead our Small Groups on Wednesdays at DV8 * Pray for our students to have a burden and boldness to share Christ * Pray for Outreach Night, the Spring Retreat and PowerPlant

What’s Coming Up
Feb. 27 Mar. 10-12 Mar. 16 Mar. 23 Outreach Night at DV8 Spring Retreat Palm Sunday Easter Sunday

No One Has A Release Form
Since we update the release forms each year, the ones from 2007 are no good (in fact, I’ve already shredded them). So, instead of the last-minute rush to get it done, and then trying to find a notary, why not do it now? It will be good for anything we do in 2008, so you only have to do it once. You can pick one up at the Information Desk.

Don’t Miss A Thing!
Life can be very busy, and sometimes it can be hard to stay on top of it all. Here are a couple of ways you can stay “in the loop” about what’s happening with the Student Ministry:

In Your Corner
In response to the overwhelming needs of parents and families, Jim Burns founded HomeWord (formerly YouthBuilders) in 1985. HomeWord is a Christian organization designed to provide assistance to adults worldwide as they help young people make wise decisions and lead positive, vibrant, Christian lifestyles. HomeWord also equips parents, grandparents and youth leaders; those who daily reach out to kids. Through Homeword Radio,, and other resources and events, HomeWord seeks to advance the work of God in the world by educating, equipping, and encouraging parents and churches to build God-honoring families from generation to generation.
