Coffee and Enlightenment, Please I found myself getting a little annoyed. Okay, more than a little.

I could blame it on my lack of coffee, or my lack of enlightenment, but arent we all entitled to get frustrated every now and then? The flight attendants serving the complimentary beverages on Flight !"# from $urich to %udapest were not moving at the speed at which I thought the situation called for. &y morning cappuccino bu'' was wearing off fast ( and at the pace they were moving, wed be touching down before Id get my ne)t hit of caffeine. *ow, I know Im a recovering caffeine addict who falls off the wagon almost every morning. +rent there more of us out there? Interestingly, though, the passengers around me didnt seem annoyed at all, they were simply en-oying the flight. .eird, I thought. /erhaps theyd all had coffee in the airport ( the only possible e)planation for their bi'arre behavior. The more I caught on to what was happening 0or wasnt happening1, the slower the staff seemed to move. 2ou know the saying, 3+ watched pot never boils4? I thought Id been a smart rat, not buying coffee at the airport due to principle. +re they cra'y? #, !! 5ungarian Forints 0appro). 67 89 :ollars1 for a cappuccino. I was not buying into that nonsense. 0Of course, in *ew 2ork on that very same trip, I paid .+2 more than that for my 9tarbucks beverage of choice.1 +s I sat there, fi)ated on the flight attendants moving at tortoise pace, I was reminded of one of my favorite ;erry &aguire movie <uotes when ;erry is seated in first class sipping champagne with a beautiful woman while his assistant=love interest, :orothy 0>enee $ellweger1, is in cattle class. :orothy can see whats going on until the flight attendant closes the curtains that block the 3classes4. :orothy looks forward from the coach cabin and tells her son, 3First class, thats whats wrong. It used to be a better meal, now its a better life.4 That was the case that morning on Flight !"#? the other lucky passengers still had caffeine in their veins@ 9o, whats my point? &ost of us live like its the 3big things4 in life that throw us off our gameA being fired, having an argument with our spouse, not being able to take the vacation we want, when we want, etc. %ut if we really look closely, those big things are actually the easiest things to deal with ( because we know that theyre there. Its crystal clear when those things are robbing us of our aliveness and were not being present. .e know that were being taken to the bad neighborhood of our mind ( places that we should not go alone. %ut have you noticed that its the little thoughts ( like not getting our coffee fast enough, like being assigned the middle seat, having to stand in line, or having to work lateA you get the point ( that grab our attention and begin to take us into the bad neighborhood unknowingly? Im not saying that we shouldnt react, were all human. %ut what I am saying is that those little things dont have to color our whole world. It is possible to wait for our coffee +*: en-oy the flight. 0It wasnt even good coffee@1
