19, 27) With these words ends the Gospel of the Liturgy of today, here in Fatima. The name of the disciple John was precisely he, John, son of Zebedee, an apostle and evangelist, he heard on the Cross Christ's words: "Behold your Mother." Earlier, Jesus had told their mother: "Madam, behold your son." This was a wonderful testament. By leaving this world, Christ gave His Mother a man who was to her as a child: The John She confided. And as a result of this donation and delivery, Mary became the mother of John Mother of God became the mother of the man. And from that moment on, John "took her to his house." John has also become the refuge land of the Mother of his Master, it's right and duty of the children actually take care of the mother. But above all, John became the will of Christ the son of the Mother of God. And John, each and every one of the men from her children have become. 2. "She received her to his own house" - this phrase means, literally, in their homes. A particular manifestation of Mary's motherhood in relation to men are the places where she meets them, the houses where she lives, places where one feels any particular presence of the Mother These places and these houses are very numerous. And they are a great variety: from the houses and chapels in the niches along the roads, where light stands the statue of Mother of God, to the chapels and churches built in his honor. It seems also there, as in many other Marian shrines around the world, with a particular strength of authenticity echoes these words of the liturgy of the day: "You are the honor of our people" (Iudit. 15.10), and also those others: "Faced with the humiliation of our people," "... relieve our rebate, with your righteousness, in the presence of our God "(Iudt. 13.20). These words resonate here in Fatima almost as an echo of the particular experiences not only for the Portuguese nation, but also by many other nations and peoples that are upon the face of the earth, or rather, they are echoing the experiences of all humanity today of the whole human family. 4. I come here today because just this very day of the month last year, took place, in St. Peter's Square in Rome, the attack on the Pope's life, which mysteriously coincided with the anniversary of the first apparition at Fatima, which is occurred on May 13, 1917.
These dates have met each other in such a way that seemed to recognize this as a special calling to come here. And behold, here I am today. I came to thank Divine Providence in this place, that Mother of God seems to have chosen so very special. "Misericordiae Domini quia non sumus consumpt" - Thanks to the Lord that we were not destroyed (Lamentations 3: 22) - I repeat once again with the Prophet. Vim, actually, especially here to proclaim the glory of God Himself: "Blessed be the Lord God, Creator of Heaven and Earth", I repeat the words of the liturgy of today (Iudt. 13.18). And the Creator of Heaven and Earth I lift also that special hymn of glory, which is itself: the Immaculate Mother of the Incarnate Word: "Blessed be You, my daughter, by Almighty God / More than all women on earth ... / The trust you had will not be forgotten by men, / And they will remember always the power of God. / So God contemplates forever "(Ibid. 13, 18-20). The background to this hymn of praise which the Church sings with joy, here as in so many places on earth, is the unrivaled choice of a daughter of mankind to be the Mother of God. And this is especially worshiped God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Be blessed and honored Mary, the prototype of the Church as "house of the Holy Trinity." 5. From that time Jesus, dying on the Cross, "said John," Behold your Mother "and from the moment that the disciple" took her to his house, "the mystery of the spiritual motherhood of Mary had its achievement in history with a boundless expanse. Motherhood means concern for the child's life. But if Mary is the mother of all men, his zeal for the life of man is of universal significance. The dedication of any parent covers the whole man. Maternity of Mary has its beginnings in maternal care for Christ. In Christ, at the foot of the Cross, she accepted John, and it accepted all the men and the man completely. Mary hugs to all, with a particular concern in the Holy Spirit. He is, indeed, "the giver of life," as the Creed. It is he who gives the fullness of life and open to eternity. The spiritual motherhood of Mary is, therefore, participation in the power of the Holy Spirit, the power of the One "who gives life." And it is at the same time, the humble service of the One who says of herself: "Behold the handmaid of the Lord" (Luke 1, 38). In light of the mystery of the spiritual motherhood of Mary, try to understand the overwhelming message that here in Fatima, began to resonate around the world since the 13th of May 1917 and lasted for five months until 13 October of that year. 6. The Church has always taught and continues to proclaim that God's revelation was brought to consummation in Jesus Christ, the fullness of it, and that "there is no waiting-no other public revelation before the glorious manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ "(Dei Verbum, 4). The same Church appreciates and judges private revelations to the satisfaction of their compliance with public revelation that one. Thus, if the church accepted the message of Fatima is mainly because the message contains a truth and a call which, in its essential content, are the truth and call of the Gospel itself. "Repent (repent) and believe in the Gospel (Mark 1, 15): these are the first words of the Messiah sent to mankind. And the message of Fatima, in its very core, is the call to conversion and penance, as in the Gospel. This call was made at the beginning of the twentieth century and,
therefore, was directed, in a particular way to this same century. The Lady of the message seemed to read, with a special insight, the "signs of the times, the signs of our time. The call to repentance is a call maternal, and at the same time, is energetic and done with decision. The charity which "welcomes the truth" (1 Cor 13, 6) know to be clear and firm. The call to repentance, as always walk together to the call to prayer. In accordance with the tradition of many centuries, the Lady of Fatima indicates the third - the rosary - which can be called "the prayer of Mary" prayer in which she feels especially close to us. When Jesus said on the Cross: "Madam, here is your son" (Io. 19, 26), opened in a new way, the Heart of His Mother, the Immaculate Heart, and revealed to him the new dimension of love and new range of love that she had called in the Holy Spirit, due to the sacrifice of the Cross. In the words of Fatima appears to us to find precisely this aspect of maternal love, which with its range covers all the ways of man towards God, both those who follow on the earth, as those who, through Purgatory lead beyond Earth. The concern of the Mother of the Savior, is identified with a concern for the work of salvation: the work of His Son. Is for the salvation, the eternal salvation of all men. On completion of the sixtieth-five years after that day May 13, 1917 is not difficult to figure out how this saving love of Mother embracing in its scope, in a particular way, our century. In the light of maternal love, we all understand the message of Our Lady of Fatima. What is more directly opposed to the man walking towards God is sin, persevere in sin, in short, the denial of God. The planned removal of God from the world of human thought. The separation from him of all earthly activity of man. The rejection of God by man. In fact, the eternal salvation of man only God is. The rejection of God by the man becomes final, logically leads to the rejection of man by God (cf. Matth. 7, 23, 10, 33), in condemnation. Can the mother, who wishes the salvation of all men, with the full force of his love that feeds the Holy Spirit, can she keep quiet about what shakes the very foundations of this salvation? No, no! Therefore, the message of Our Lady of Fatima, so maternal, appears at once so strong and determined. It seems severe. It is as if he were John the Baptist on the banks of the Jordan. Calls for penance. Warns. Calls to prayer. Recommended the rosary, the rosary. This message is addressed to all men. The love of the Mother of the Savior comes to wherever it extends the work of salvation. And the subject of his devotion are all men of our time and at the same time, societies, nations and peoples. Companies threatened by apostasy threatened by moral degradation. The collapse of morality brings with it the collapse of societies. 8. Christ said on the Cross: "Lady, behold your son." Consecrate themselves to Mary means to invoke the aid and oferecermo us to ourselves and to give humanity to the One who is holy, infinitely Holy rely upon his assistance - using your Heart Mother opened on the Cross for love with all men and to the whole world - to offer the world, and man, and humanity and all nations to Him who is infinitely Holy. The holiness of God manifested in the redemption of man, the world, of all humanity and of nations, this redemption accomplished through the sacrifice of the Cross. "For their sake I consecrate myself to Myself," Jesus had said "(Io. 17, 19). The world and man have been devoted to the power of redemption. Entrusted to the One who is infinitely Holy. The Mother of Christ calls us and calls us to unite the Church of the living God, this consecration of the world in this time of delivery whereby the same world, mankind, nations and each and every one of the men are offered to the Eternal Father, surrounded with the virtue of Christ's Redemption. While his teachings on the special presence of Mary in the mystery of Christ and the Church matured at the time of
Paul VI, to call Mary Mother of the Church also, indicated more deeply the nature of its union with the same Church and His concern for the world, for humanity, for every man and every nation: her motherhood. Thus, it was even more thorough understanding of the meaning of surrender, which the Church is called to do, using the aid of the Heart of the Mother of Christ and our Mother 11. And how it stands today before the Holy Mother who begot the Son of God in his sanctuary of Fatima, John Paul II, Peter's successor and continuer of the work of Pius, John and Paul and particular heir to the Second Vatican Council ? The successor of Peter is presented here as well as witness the immense suffering of man, as witness the almost apocalyptic threats that weigh on the nation and humankind. He tries to embrace those suffering with your weak human heart, while sets well before the mystery of the Heart: Heart of the Mother, the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Because of these hardships, with the consciousness of the evil that is spreading around the world and threatens the man, nations and humanity the successor of Peter is presented here with a greater faith in the redemption of the world: faith in the saving love that is always greater when stronger than all evil. This allows us to recognize that however great grace was granted to the man while in the midst of these travels in the realm of faith of our time, lit up this "great sign: a Woman"! Yes, truly we can repeat: "Blessed be You, daughter, by God Almighty, more than all women on Earth! ... Proceeding as righteousness, in the presence of our God, ... Relieve our rebate. Truly, Blessed art thou! Yes, here and throughout the Church in the heart of every man and the world: be blessed Mary, our Mother most sweet!
