ACT is a non-profit organization that connects people with disabilities to the arts. To make our programs possible, we rely on wonderful people like YOU who volunteer your time and abilities to encourage the growth of artists with special needs. Below you will find our volunteer opportunities for this Spring. Thank you for giving ACT a hand!

Volunteer Opportunities Spring 2014 Weekly Volunteer Opportunities
Adult Art Classes: ACT offers a number of opportunities just for adults! Check out the diverse options offered and volunteer with one that fits your interest!  Monday Art Classes: Mondays from 6:30-7:30pm at ACT students will participate in a Theatre class for 6 weeks. Classes go from April 14 to May 19.  Tuesday Art Classes: Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00pm at ACT students will participate in a 6 week Pottery class. Classes will begin on April 15 and go through May 19.  ACTion Drummers: Each Monday from 5:15-6:15 this performing drum troupe rehearses at ACT. Sign up to help out with this wonderful group of musicians for their rehearsals and community performances.  Choir: On Thursdays from 11:30-12:10 and from 12:301:30 pm, students in the ACTion choir rehearse at Kuyper College. Students come from a variety of schools and community locations and enjoy singing in this collaborative environment and perform throughout the community. Arts and Mentoring: ACT a holds specialized art classes for GRPS transition students (18-26 yrs) from Glee show choir to MultiMedia art and from recycled art to pottery. Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30-11:30am. Recycled Art: Thursdays from 8:30-10:30, Union High School students will come to ACT for an 8 week recycled art class. Come and provide assistance to the teaching artist and students and learn about making art from recycled materials! One-Time Volunteer Opportunities
Open Studio at ACT: Students age 16+ will come to ACT for an evening of art-making! They will have a plethora of art materials to choose from and we are looking for volunteers to help in the creative process. Friday, March 28 & Friday, May 9 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Art Education Day at the GRAM: In conjunction with ACTion Art (ACT’s art competition for adults with disabilities, taking place at the GRAM), ACT will be hosting special education classrooms during a day at the GRAM. These classrooms will be able to tour the exhibit and create their artwork of their own. Volunteers are needed to help with the art activities. Friday, April 18 from 9:30-2:30 pm. ACT’s Early Childhood Night at the Children's Museum: An event where preschool students and their families have the opportunity to visit the Children’s Museum and participate in art activities through ACT. Volunteers are needed to help with art areas. Wedesday, April 23 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Festival Day 2014! Come for a day of fun and art at Lincoln Campus on Friday, May 2, 2014 with over 1,200 kids, teachers, artists, volunteers and community partners! Volunteers are needed from 9:00-2:00pm on Festival Day (May 2) and on May 1 from 2:30-7:00pm for set-up. Down Syndrome Assoc.’s Night at the Children’s Museum: During this event, the museum is open just for kids from the Down Syndrome Association and ACT has been asked to provide arts and crafts activities. Volunteers needed to help with this area. May 20, 5:30-8:00 pm.
