Summary of changes:

EP1.1 CD1.0 DN088135 Issue 1-0 07/04/2008 2 (8) Nokia Siemens Networks

1.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to describe the effects and impacts that activation of this BTS Software Change Delivery (CD) will have on the customers network and how any new and changed functionalities will impact the operator and the end user.

2.

SW UPDATE DELIVERY EFFECT

This EP1.1 CD1.0 BTS software change delivery contains: 9 corrections 2 features / changed functionality

EP1.1 CD1.0 can be background downloaded to the BCF prior to activation. Activation of the BTS software will cause momentary loss of service in the serving cells as the BCF will be reset. Normal operation will be resumed upon completion. In a 2+2+2 WBC, using a dedicated 64K O&M link, the software download and activation times are typically: Background software download Software activation : ~ 22 minutes : ~ 2 minutes (no service during this time)

In addition, final hardware for the RTC (ECxA) is not available at the time of EP1.1 CD1.0 release. The RTC has also not been piloted in a live network and for this reason, it is not recommended to use the EP1.1 CD1.0 (or any previous BTS software release) when the RTC becomes available.

3.

EFFECTS ON END USER 3.1 25076CNESPE05 NO GPRS activity in few cells

End user data services such as web browsing, email sending/retrieving etc. will be continuous and un-interrupted.

4.

EFFECTS ON OPERATOR 4.1 25076CNESPE05 NO GPRS activity in few cells (1-345341391)

Impact on the Operator: Corrections are implemented into the System Module Microcode. Effects on the Operator: In BTS where (E)GPRS is activated (GENA=Y, EGENA=Y) synchronisation and therefore availability of packet data channels is maintained.

EP1.1 CD1.0 DN088135 Issue 1-0 07/04/2008 3 (8) Nokia Siemens Networks

4.2 25051CNESPE05 Timeslot offset does not work in synchronized configuration (16008ESPE01)
Impact on the Operator: Corrections are implemented into the BTS O&M Software. Effects on the Operator: The DFCA feature operates as specified.

4.3 25050CNESPE05 7606 RFCAD alarm after new BTS SW activation in sector 3 (16400ESPE01)
Impact on the Operator: Corrections are implemented into the BTS O&M Software. Effects on the Operator: No false, unnecessary or unexpected alarms reported.

4.4 25049CNESPE05 Unexpected 7607 - RF cable autodetection found mixed combining alarm (16160ESPE01)
Impact on the Operator: Corrections are implemented into the BTS O&M Software. Effects on the Operator: No false, unnecessary or unexpected alarms reported.

4.5 25032CNESPE05 UALC feature is not working with EP Element Manager (14696ESPE01)
Impact on the Operator: Corrections are implemented into the Flexi EDGE BTS Manager application. Effects on the Operator: The UALC feature operates as specified.

4.6 25031CNESPE05 Antenna numbering in RSSI results is always Ant1Ant4, even if antenna numbers are different (18125ES10P)
Impact on the Operator: Corrections are implemented into the Flexi EDGE BTS Manager application and the Site Information Report (SIR) which the user can retrieve using BTS manager includes additional information. Effects on the Operator:

EP1.1 CD1.0 DN088135 Issue 1-0 07/04/2008 4 (8) Nokia Siemens Networks

The Flexi EDGE BTS Manager user experience is improved and real antenna numbering is added to Site Information Report (SIR) which will benefit the investigation of RSSI related problems.

4.7 25030CNESPE05 Unable to disable Q1 loop protection (38123ESPE02)

Impact on the Operator: Corrections are implemented into the Flexi EDGE BTS Manager application. Effects on the Operator: The Flexi EDGE BTS Manager user experience is improved.

4.8 13439CNESPE01 BTS SW activation fails after SW upgrade from EP1 CD1 BL to EP1.1 BL when special characters were used (25429ESPE03, 25271ESPE03, 14739ESPE01)
Impact on the Operator: Corrections are implemented into the Transmission Platform Software (TRS) and the Flexi EDGE BTS Manager application. Effects on the Operator: Special character use is restricted in Flexi EDGE BTS Manager Application and the user will be prevented from entering those characters.

4.9 13425CNESPE01 Unexpected alarm reporting for 3+3 BTS site when shared DTRX is given power reset (9014ES05X)
Impact on the Operator: Corrections are implemented into the BTS Alarm Handling. Effects on the Operator: No false or unexpected alarms reported.

6.

NEW / CHANGED FUNCTIONALITY 6.1 25057CNESPE05 Support split sectors beaming to same antenna
Benefit to the Operator: This changes brings the configuration options for Flexi EDGE BTS in line with EDGE UltraSite BTS.

6.2 25053CNESPE05 Removal of BCF ID mismatch check

Benefit to the Operator: This change removes the BCF ID mismatch checking feature and therefore BCF Operation Degraded Alarm 7601 "Commissioning failed due to BCF ID mismatch between commissioning file and BSC" will not be raised if the BCF ID used in the commissioning phase is not the same as the actual BCF ID as seen by the BSC.
