! BROOKLYN, NY. – March 17, 2014 – On Friday evening, March 14, 2017, the Downtown Brooklyn

Neighborhood Alliance (DBNA) announced the start of its Community Events Program, a new initiative to provide donated event space at Barclays Center to enhance the fundraising efforts of Brooklyn-based organizations. The program was officially launched at this month’s DBNA Community Sweepstakes Event, in front of a crowd of over 150 people, at the Brooklyn Job Corps Center.

! The newly developed Community Events Program will provide discounted rental spaces at Barclays Center to community-based organizations. This opportunity will allow eligible organizations to host events at one of the world’s most high profile venues, while conserving scarce resources and reaching a much wider audience.

! Rev. Dr. Herbert Daughtry, Founding Chairman of DBNA, said, “Barclays Center has become an iconic
destination for so many people from throughout the City and the world. Now we are thrilled that it will also help local organizations share the excitement of Barclays while generating needed funds to provide essential services to our neighbors.”

! Bruce Ratner, Executive Chairman of Forest City Ratner Companies and majority owner of Barclays Center, said, “Barclays Center has quickly become one of the most successful and exciting arenas in the world. I am thrilled that we will be able to use the arena’s stature to help worthy local organizations raise funds that will help them carry out their important missions. I want to thank Reverend Daughtry and DBNA for working tirelessly with us to bring another initiative of the historic Atlantic Yards Community Benefits Agreement to fruition."

! DBNA is one of the eight signatories of the historic 2005 Atlantic Yards Community Benefits Agreement
(CBA) with Forest City Ratner Companies, majority owner of Barclays Center and developer of Atlantic Yards. DBNA has, as a part of its CBA portfolio, the ability to hold ten community-sponsored events at Barclays Center each year. This provision was negotiated by DBNA to provide another vehicle for local organizations to tap into resources available through Barclays Center.

! DBNA's Community Events Program is available to not-for-profit charitable organizations, schools (pub-

lic or charter), religious organizations, block associations, hospitals, or similar organizations operating in Brooklyn, New York, with priority given to organizations in Community Boards 2, 3, 6 and 8 (areas nearest to Barclays Center). Organizations can apply for the 2014-2015 DBNA Community Events Program by completing and submitting an application which is currently available on DBNA’s website and is due on June 15, 2014. Further information is available on www.thedbna.org/events.
