Welcome to The State of Apps: Wired Readers. This report highlights important emerging trends in the desktop software and web applications industry, specifically of readers of Wired Magazine. The statistics in this report were generated during two weeks of 2009 (9 till 23 September) by over 350 members of the Wired Reader Panel. They’ve installed a small desktop tracking program that keeps track of what applications they’re using on Windows, Mac, Linux and in their browser. This was then shared on the Wakoopa.com community, which is currently over 100.000 members strong and serves up to 3 million software recommendations every month. The data from this report was provided by QD, a tracking service by Wakoopa.
