Blessings of Pujya Ganini Pramukh Shri Gyanmati Mataji
(Translated)
Devotion to Lord Jinendra is the foremost means of shedding our karmas in the present Pancham Kal because we are not having that much physical strength as to perform hard penance on the top of mountains or near the river-banks etc. Thus, it becomes a necessity for each Jain Shravak (householder) to have the darshan of Bhagwan Jinendra by reaching the Jain Temple and to perform the worship with eight dravyas. Acharya Shri Kund-Kund Swami has said in Samaysar that it is always better to explain any matter to a person in his own language, so that he/she may accept the contents easily. Thus, the presentation of the book ‘JAIN WORSHIP’ by ‘Aryika Chandnamatiji’ appears to be quite appropriate as most of our young generation is being educated at convents or English medium schools and the children are more habitual of the English language. I always admire and encourage the spirit of Chandnamatiji to write in English because in the world of today, English is a strong medium to convey our message to the entire society. I express my hearty blessings for Aryika Chandnamati Mataji and the readers of this book to enlighten their path of salvation more and more.

My Best Wishes
(Translated)
-Kshullak Motisagar Pujya PragyashramniAryika Shri Chandnamati Mataji is the devoted disciple of Pujya Ganini Shri Gyanmati Mataji. Since her Childhood, she has supposed it to be her hearty pleasure as to obey the directions of her Guru whole heartedly and thus she won her full faith and affection and also brightened the path of salvation for self. She is having an amazing talent to write Bhajans and Poetry based on the devotion to Bhagwan Jinendra; with in minutes she prepares these, according to the event. She made sincere endeavour to write in English also; it is a very healthy sign because English is the need of the present society and it is also very true that Bhakti or devotion to Lord Jinendra always pays best fortunes to the devotee, no matter what language has been used. One has to keep in mind that Pujans-Stotras-Bhajans etc. all are the means to bind the heart of the devotee person with the purest virtues of the Lord to absorb those in self and when we understand the language, we come to know what we are praying before the Lord and we get ourselves immersed into the divine happiness. I extend my hearty best wishes for the success of this book ‘JAIN WORSHIP’ along with paying my deep sense of reverence for Pujya Ganini Shri Gyanmati Mataji and Pujya Aryika Shri Chandnamati Mataji, who are like the Brahmi & Sundari (daughters of Bhagwan Rishabhdev) of the present time. May this couple of Aryika Mataji illuminate the world with the light of Jainism for long time to come.

Editorial
-Karmayogi Br. Ravindra Kumar Jain Today the world is flooded with the western civilization and the young generation is much attracted towards the modern life style. People are not getting anytime for even going to Jinmandir to have the darshan of Lord Jinendra. In such a time, the literature is needed to bind the minds of young masses to their religion i.e. Jain Dharma in their much familiar language. As most of our children and young minds are tuned more with the English language, we were feeling the need of presenting the Pujans, which are usually done daily in our Jain temples, in English.
To our great satisfaction, Pujya Pragya Shramni Aryika Shri Chandnamati Mataji wrote the Pujans of Bhagwan Rishabhdev, Bhagwan Mahavir and Ganini Gyanmati Mataji long back because of her interest. Later, she also wrote the Pujan of Terahdweep in English. Thus, all these Pujans and other English writings of her, are being presented in this book, so that our educated youth and school going children along with our Jain members, living abroad, may also enjoy the nectar of the Bhakti of Bhagwan Jinendra. I hope that Pujya Mataji will provide us such useful matter in future also and we will present the same in published form for the whole society. May this book prove beneficial for the whole young generation and they may be bound in the spell of Jin-Shasan.

Preface : Why This Book?
-Br. (Km.) Swati Jain M.Sc. (Biosciences) Often ladies come to Pujya Mataji and says-“Mataji! My son/daughter dosen’t know anything about our Jain-Dharma, firstly they are having a lot of burden of their studies, secondly our religious books are mostly in Hindi and children are not used to read Hindi now-a-days. Somehow I teach them Namokar Mantra and the names of 24 Tirthankars and not beyond this; they are not able to enjoy the Pujans because of the language, Mataji! Please do something.” Pujya Chandnamati Mataji used to listen to all these complaints for just to smile. As a matter of fact, she has written the Pujans of Bhagwan Rishabhdev, Bhagwan Mahavir & others in English due to her interest for the language. One thing is very appealing that a number of people may be expert in writing & speaking English but they may not have the talent to write the Pujan or Bhajan etc. in this language, however Pujya Chandnamati Mataji is talented enough to write Pujans/Bhajans/Poetry etc. in English, in contrary to the fact that she has not been educated at some college or University. Thus, as per the requirement and the wish of the devotees, she compiled her various English writings in the form of this book ‘Jain Worship’, which is reaching your hands. The popular initial & ending methods of performing Jain worship have also been added in roman script, so that the whole compilation has become perfect in it. If you sing these Pujans according to the tunes prescribed, you will certainly enjoy the happiness of the devotion to Lord Jinendra. So, induce your children & young generation to be indulged in Jin-Pujan daily in their familiar language. I sincerely wish that we may regularly get such useful literature from the pen of Pujya Chandnamati Mataji in the interest of the whole society.

A Brief Introduction of Acharya Shri Shantisagar Ji
Written by-Aryika Chandnamati
In the religious tradition of Lord Teerthankar Mahavir, Charitra Chakravarti Acharya Shantisagar Muni Maharaj was born in Karnataka state in 1872 to be the first Acharya in the 19th-20th century. A great votary Shri Bheemraav Paatil lived in Yedgud village of Karnataka state. His wife Satyavati was also very much religious & glorious lady. She gave birth to a great son Saatgaunda as like the sun of this earth. His marriage was held in childhood and after six months his wife expired. He did not marry again and took celibacy for whole life. Shri Saatgaunda Paatil was so much religious and great person from his childhood. He always studied Jain Granthas. He was also a hard worker in his house life. He always served his parents and preached to all the Jain persons of his community. Once Devendra Kirti Muni reached there. Paatil had come there for his Darshan and took up some vows. In 1913 Saatgaunda Paatil attained Kshullak Deeksha by Devendra Kirti Muni at Uttoor Village on the Tithi of Jyeshtha Shukla Trayodashi. He achieved Ailak Deeksha on the Sammed Shikhar mountain. In 1920 he was initiated in Muni Deeksha by Devendra Kirti Muniraj at Yarnaal city on the day of Falgun Shukla Chaturdashi. In Muni Deeksha he made hard austerity. Once he was seated in meditation in a cave of Konnoor, a big snake climbed on his body. Snake played freely all over his body as like the forest or garden. Many followers were seeing that scene and they were so much amazed. This is quite true that Acharya deva was really Bhavlingi saint (internally pure) of that century. It is also said about him that one day many-many ants attacked over Shanti Sagar Maharaj, but he did not take any action, he sat there and thought about his soul and body-both are different from one another. When the votaries came there for his Darshan, seeing that scene they wept and served him by cleaning his body. Such struggles he faced, then he gained the rank of Charitra Chakravarti by religious followers and scholars. An incident of his life is very interesting-Once upon a time two Bramhacharis came to him, both sat there without any formalities & without naman (bowing the head) to Acharya Shri. Names of both Bramhacharis were Hira Lal Jain Gangwal and Khushaal Chand Jain Pahade. One of them told to Acharya Shri-We don’t accept you as Muniraj, because in this age-era, real Munis can not be possible, you are not having any Riddhis then how can we accept you as a real Muni?

}

}

}

Acharya Shantisagar Maharaj told thenGentlemen! Yon didn’t bow to me, no matter. I have not accepted Deeksha for you or anybody, but I have taken initiation for only myself. For some time both Bramhacharis talked to Acharya Shri about Jain Granthas. After some time Shanti Sagar Ji asked themWhat is the name of that tree, which is present there? Bramhacharis told-that is the mango tree. Acharya Shri asked again-that is a mango tree, how can I accept it? Because that is not having any mangoes. Both replied-Maharaj Shri! This is mango tree only because mango will grow on this tree only in summer season. Now it is winter season, in this season mango will not grow on this tree. When season will come, mango will come on this only and not on other tree. Hearing to them Acharya Shri toldO gentle men! Like that I am also a Muni as you are telling about mango tree. Today is not the season of the salvation , but salvation will be achieved by this Digambar Mudra only. So when that salvation season will come in fourth era (Chaturth Kal), I will get that. Now I am making my soul ready for getting full purity. Hearing to this powerful lecture of Acharyadeva, both Bramhacharis bowed their heads with right belief (Samyaktva) and accepted him as their religious Guru. Both told-Gurudev! We want to take initiation by you. Please, you give us right knowledge and the boon to make penance. We are fully devoted to you. Acharyashri said-both of you should go once to your home and come back taking the order of your parents. Following the order of Gurudeva, both went to home. After some time both came to Acharya Shri and took Kshullak Deeksha by him. Names of them were Kshullak Veersagar and Kshullak Chandra Sagar. In 1924 Acharya Shri Shantisagar gave Muni Deeksha to Kshullak Veersagar in Samdoli City. At that time devotees and Sangha gave him Acharya Padvi. After this Acharya Shri Shantisagar started on foot journey (Mangal Vihar) to North India from South with his Muni Sangha. There were seven Munis in his Sangh named-Muni Veersagar, Nemisagar, Chandrasagar, Payasagar, Sudharm-Sagar and Kunthusagar. He travelled to Sammed Shikhar Siddhakshetra with sangha and did a lot of religious works of Dharma Prabhaavna. A unique work of Hindi translation, editing and publishing of Dhavala Grantha had been done by his inspiration. He got the Sutras of Shatkhandagam inscribed on copper plates. These copper plates are consecrated in a special Jinmadir of FaltanMaharashtra and in Moorbidri also. Thus with performing various religious activities and self purifying austerity, Acharya Shri Shantisagar Ji left his mortal body with YamSallekhna at Kunthalgiri on 18th September, Bhado Shukla Dooj in 1955. He has done a lot of obligation on Digambar Jain community. Remembering his innumerable contributions, we pay homage in his holy feet.

YEAR-2009, THE PEACE YEAR
Started with the inauguration of World Peace Non-Violence Conference
-Br. (Km.) Swati Jain
(Sanghastha)
1. Non-Violence : The Need of the Present WorldThe present world is passing through the cruel hands of violence, terrorism, mutual anger, suspicion and hatred etc. at a number of poles. Everywhere in the world society, terrorism is being criticized but everyday we are listening to some more heinous act of violence. The fundamental cause lying behind this fact is that the masses do not know or understand the real meaning of human life, which is encompassed in mutual friendly co-existence or in broader sense Non-Violence. Non-Violence is, infact, the perfect way of leading life in a harmonious pattern, in which the person has the sensibility to think that as my life is precious for me, the same is the case for the other also and so I have to tune all my activities in such a way that I leave the proper space for all other living beings also. Lack of this sensibility, makes a person full of negative feelings like anger, hatred, revenge, violence or terror etc. and in turn, the outcome of these feelings spoil the whole human society. 2. Relation of Non-Violence with Jainism-Jainism is supposed to be one of the most ancient religions of the Indian land, where it is still surviving in its full tune. This religion in known throughout the world as the originator of the universal principle of Live & Let Live or Non-Violence or Ahimsa. Tirthankars or Jain Lords have preached that Non-violence is the basic principle, on the basis of which harmony & equilibrium can be established in the personal life as well as in the societal, national & international life. The Non-violence, described in Jain Philosophy, is at the deepmost level and it has been mentioned as the prime source of Peace.

3. Hastinapur-The Land of Lord Shantinath, the God of Peace-Hastinapur, the mythological pilgrimage centre, is a very pious city situated at about 110 kms. from the capital city Delhi. It is supposed to be related with Pandavs and Kauravs of the time of Mahabharat. Simultaneously, it is also a very important Jain Centre because crores of years back, Lord Shantinath, the 16th Tirthankar of Jainism was born here. As the name suggests Tirthankar Shantinath is known as the God of Peace and devotees worship him to get all types of peace Mental, Spiritual & Societal etc. Thus, Hastinapur is the ancient land, from where the world got the universal principles of Non-Violence, Co-existence, Compassion & Justice because Bhagwan Shantinath was also a Chakravarti, who ruled over the whole earth from Hastinapur. 4. Ganini Pramukh Shri Gyanmati Mataji-The Apostle of Peace-Today, Hastinapur is known worldwide due to the excellent structure of Jain Geography-Jamboodweep, the so-called unparalleled Man-Made-Heaven and the Index of Hastinapur (as indicated in the folder of the Tourism Department of U.P.). This unique centre of mental-spiritual peace and natural beauty has been developed by Digambar Jain Institute of Cosmographic Research (Digambar Jain Trilok Shodh Sansthan) on the inspiration & guidance of the Supreme Jain Sadhvi-Pujya Ganini Pramukh Shri Gyanmati Mataji. Pujya Mataji is an extraordinary personality, who has devoted her whole life in Penance, Renunciation & Self-purification with the studies of the ancient Jain Scriptures and writing about 250 Scriptures & books. Well versed in Sanskrit, Prakit, Hindi & Kannad etc. languages, she has done a tremendous work by providing a number of Peace-centres (pilgrimage places) to the entire society as Jamboodweep at Hastinapur, Tirthankar Rishabhdev Tapasthali at Prayag, Nandyavarta Mahal Tirth at Kundalpur (Nalanda-Bihar) and so on. These are the centres where people get the spiritual insight to be completely away from the vices like violence, hatred, non-vegetarianism, terrorism etc. Pravachans of Pujya Mataji on Aastha Channel continuously for about 4 years now, are giving the message of spiritual upliftment to the entire society.

5. World Peace Non-Violence Conference inaugurated to Disperse the Rays of Non-Violence to the Whole World-Thus, if we think over all the above mentioned facts, we conclude that “Peace is the utmost need of the present world and that peace is in the lap of Non-Violence, the principle elaborated best by the Jain Tirthankars, out of whom the 16th one i.e. Bhagwan Shantinath was born at Hastinapur, the ancient pilgrimage centre, which is presently famous due to Jambudweep & its inspirator Pujya Ganini Pramukh Shri Gyanmati Mataji. By our great fortune, 'World Peace Non-Violence Conference' was inaugurated at Jambudweep-Hastinapur by the Hon'ble President of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil on 21st Dec. 2008 by the inspiration and in the auspicious presence of Pujya Ganini Pramukh Shri Gyanmati Mataji, so that the concept of NonViolence & Peace may be dispersed to the whole world from the land of Lord Shantinath. Join us to make our collective humble contribution towards maintaining the soothing peace all around the world through the fountain of Non-Violence emerging from Pujya Ganini Pramukh Shri Gyanmati Mataji, the apostle of Compassion, Affection, Peace and Forbearance. 6. What you have to do? You have to organize at least one Shanti Vidhan, the recitation of Vishwashanti Mantra (Ohm Hreem Vishwashanti Karaya Shri Shantinathaya Namah) collectively or individually for an hour and to organize Seminar/ Lecture on various related topics such as-The Contribution of NonViolence in World-Peace etc. either in Hindi or English or in else language. You can also invite the surrounding gentry in the session of the Lecture. If it is possible for you to perform all these activities once in a month, then it will be the most appropriate outcome; however you can design the schedule according to the convenience of your participants in various months of the year 2009.

Think once! What should I do?
LIVEAND LETLIVE IT IS THE MAIN PRINCIPLE OF MAHAVIRA. THE SOUL IS IN EVERY CREATURE AND THEYALSO FEEL HAPPINESS AND SUFFERING . O HOLIMAN OF THE WORLD! YOU THINK ONCE, IF ANY BODY GIVES PAIN TO YOU, THEN YOU FEEL VERY BAD. SO IF IT MAY BE POSSIBLE FOR YOU, TO GIVE HAPPINESS TO EVERY LITTLE AND BIG CREATURE. THE LIVING-BEINGS OF FOREST ALSO WANT A PEACEFUL LIFE. LET THEM LIVE IN THE FOREST. YOU THINK SECONDARILY, YOU ARE HUMAN AND HUMANITY IS NECESSARY FOR YOU, AND VIOLENCE IS NOT YOUR FIELD. TODAY ALSO IN INDIA; WHERE LORD MAHAVIRA, GAUTAM BUDDHA, MAHATMAGANDHI AND MANY OTHER GREAT SOULS HAVE BORN, THE EARTH IS WEEPING TODAY, SEEING THE NACKED DANCE OF VIOLENCE AND SAYING TO YOU; OH MY CHILD! WHYARE YOU DOING VIOLENCE TO YOUR BROTHERS? THE CREATURES OF FOREST ARE ALSO YOUR RELATIVES. BECAUSE THEYARE SAVING THE ENVIRONMENT..... MY FRIEND! LISTEN TO THE INSTRUCTIONS OF LORD MAHAVIRA1. NON-VIOLENCE IS YOUR MAIN PRINCIPLE. 2. NON-VIOLENCE IS THE TRUTH OF SOUL. 3. NON-VIOLENCE IS THE FIRST ASPECT OF LORD.

Shortest Meditation of OHM Mantra
Written by-Aryika Chandnamati

For sometime you sit in lotus posture and concentrate on a Mantra. I will tell you today, how to do meditation. Please give attention and keep your one palm on another palm. The right palm should be upside. Now close your eyes and keep your body fully straight. Firstly you imagine a white big background in front of you. On this background you see the Mantra Om. This Mantra has been originated from the Namokar Mantra. Om is the smallest form of the Namokar mantra. This is the original mantra and you can not convert it into English or in other language. Now you concentrate on saffron coloured Om written on the white background. Although the external eyes are closed, yet the internal journey is going on. You have not to take sleep and have to stop your mind from going outside. You concentrate your mind only on Om mantra. Don’t think anything else and try again try to see the Om. In second phase of this meditation, you see the Sun before you and assume that this Sun is having the image of Om at its centre. Imagine that the rays are coming out from this Sun. At this time, you feel very much happiness and peace. Now, you will complete your short meditation. Before it, check/purify your breathing system. You should recite 5 Padas of Namokar Mantra one by one. Telling “Namo Arihantanam" you take a long breath and with “Namo

Siddhanam” you exhale your breathing. After this you tell internally “Namo Aayariyanam” take long breathing and by “Namo Uvajjhayanam” you leave the breath slowly. Like this with “Namo Loye” you take a long breath inside and telling “Savva Saahoonam” you leave your breath gently Through this method you have taken three breathing cycle with inhalation and exhalation. Now, in ending the meditation you sing one small song“Count your garden by the flowers Never by the leaves that fall, Count your days by golden hours, Don’t remember clouds at all.”
