He was only sixteen but he loves talking with a disguised, deep voice on the pay phone. The small store owner was a little suspicious, so he listened as the boy talked. “Hello sir, I’m looking for work. Could you use an honest hardworking young man to work for you?” The listening store owner overheard the boy and was now intrigued. After a few moments, the boy spoke again, “Oh, really? You already have an honest, hardworking young man working there? Well, okay. Thanks just the same.” When the boy hung up the phone, there was a broad smile on his face. He was obviously elated and thrilled.“Hey, wait a minute!” the store owner said, “Why are you so happy?” I thought the guy said he didn’t need you to work for him?” The young boy smiled even more. “Well, I was just checking up on my job. I’m that honest hard working young man!” I realized that Eastmont is blessed with hundreds of honest hardworking people too. I took a few minutes to review the many activities and ministries that our church has been involved in since January. It is almost mind boggling. Visits to homebound, teaching children, feeding the poor, preparing for Easter, and that was just last week! There have been three major conferences, special meals for families in need, music programs, outreach visits, race car tournaments, gift bags, mission conferences, Bible drills, wild game suppers and tablescapes. That’s not even counting our regular Sunday and Wednesday activities. I know you do more than this. I also know why you do it. You have been shown grace by God. It is only natural to serve the Lord you love. Here are a few brief reminders: • Passion Play is April 12-14 so pray, promote and bring a guest. • Jeremy Lynch has accepted the call and will be here April 9. • We need about $70,000 to replace leaking roofs. Any gift will be helpful. Just mark it Emergency/ Building Fund. • Pray for Bro. Art as he prepares to preach this Sunday. • Easter changes everything. Some unchurched people would love a place to worship on Easter. Invite someone. • We will have a baptism service Easter Sunday night at 5 PM for anyone over 12, who would like to be baptized.
