130 Ye servants of God 1 Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim, and publish abroad his wonderful name ; the name all-victorious of Jesus extol ; his kingdom is glorious, and rules over all. God ruleth on high, almighty to save ; and still he is nigh, his presence we have ; the great congregation his triumph shall sing, ascribing salvation to Jesus our king.

‘Salvation to God who sits on the throne ! ’ let all cry aloud, and honour the Son : the praises of Jesus the angels proclaim, fall down on their faces, and worship the Lamb. 4 Then let us adore, and give him his right : all glory and power, all wisdom and might, all honour and blessing, with angels above, and thanks never-ceasing, and infinite love. (Amen, amen.) Charles Wesley (1707–1788) 3

Prayer The King of Love my shepherd is… The King of Love my Shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never ; I nothing lack if I am his and he is mine for ever. Where streams of living water flow my ransomed soul he leadeth, and where the verdant pastures grow with food celestial feedeth. Perverse and foolish oft I strayed ; but yet in love he sought me, and on his shoulder gently laid, and home rejoicing brought me. In death’s dark vale I fear no ill, with thee, dear Lord, beside me ; thy rod and staff my comfort still, thy cross before to guide me.

Thou spread’st a table in my sight ; thy unction grace bestoweth ; and oh, what wonder and delight from thy pure chalice floweth ! 6 And so through all the length of days thy goodness faileth never ; Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise within thy house for ever ! Henry Williams Baker (1821–1877)(alt.) from Psalm 23 5 Reading Luke 22 39-46

543 Longing for Light 1 Longing for light, we wait in darkness. Longing for truth, we turn to you. Make us your own, your holy people, light for the world to see. Christ, be our light ! Shine in our hearts. Shine through the darkness. Christ, be our light ! Shine in your Church gathered today. 2 Longing for peace, our world is troubled. Longing for hope, many despair. Your word alone has power to save us. Make us your living voice. 3 Longing for food, many are hungry. Longing for water, many still thirst. Make us your bread, broken for others, shared until all are fed. 4 Longing for shelter, many are homeless. Longing for warmth, many are cold. Make us your building, sheltering others, walls made of living stone. 5 Many the gifts, many the people, many the hearts that yearn to belong. Let us be servants to one another, making your kingdom come. Bernadette Farrell (b. 1957)

O send thy light forth PSALM 43 O send thy light forth and thy truth ; let them be guides to me, and bring me to thine holy hill, even where thy dwellings be. Then will I to God’s altar go, to God my chiefest joy : yea, God, my God, thy name to praise * my harp I will employ. Why art thou then cast down, my soul ? what should discourage thee ? And why with vexing thoughts art thou disquieted in me ? Still trust in God ; for him to praise good cause I yet shall have : he of my countenance is the health, my God that doth me save.

* The last line of each verse is repeated. Psalm 43, verses 3-5 The Scottish Psalter, 1929 Benediction CCL Licence No 6258
