Why Im Interested In It
For my geography project, I am interested in nding out how a soccer eld can relate to math. The reason why I picked this topic out of others is because Ive always had a big passion about soccer and always wanted to learn more about it. My whole life I have always loved playing sports, so I thought that it would be a great idea to learn more about a passion that I love to do. For this project I want to nd how a soccer eld can relate to my learning and connect to my understanding of math.

Geometry
There are lots of ways to that the sport soccer connects to geometry. One topic that Im going to share is the dimensions of a soccer eld. There are many dimensions in a soccer eld that include: the penalty area, the goal, the halfway line, the touchline, and more. All of these parts of a soccer eld are dimensions. Without having the right dimensions, soccer cant be played the right way. A full size goal is usually eight feet tall and 24 feet wide, and the penalty spot is usually 12 yards from the goal. The goal box is 6 yard long and 20 yards wide, and the middle eld line circle is 10 yards wide. The corner kick is 1 yard away from the biggest rectangular box which is 44 yards wide and 18 yards long. Finally each side of the eld can be a range of different numbers. For adults the dimensions for a whole soccer eld range from 50 to 100 yards wide and 100 to 130 yards long. Depending on the age of soccer player, the eld can increase or decrease relating to the age. If players are U-12 they would be playing on a eld with the dimensions of 50 x 80. This relates to math because it shows the correct calculations of a soccer eld.

There is a lot of history about a soccer eld. Here is some important information about a soccer eld. A soccer eld and the sport comes from ancient history. China, Japan, Italy, England and more countries have played a similar game of soccer. They did this for military practice, celebrations, or just for fun. Americans have gotten the idea of soccer from these places but mostly from England. Soccer in England became more common and a bigger sport. The ofcial rules of soccer were established on December 8, 1963. This started to make soccer more popular all around the world. Now soccer is one of the most common sports.
