March 2014 Dear Club Members/Friends of Caldy CC, I hope we have all wintered well (too well by the look of some of you at the indoor nets recently! and are lookin! forward to this comin! "#$% cricket season& For the first time in a lon! while, we can all be proud to boast of some of the top trainin! facilities in the 'orth (est& )ver the last few years we have had installed a new state of the art electronic scorebo*, new mobile net ca!e, new artificial match track, new waterho! (that has and will probably never !et used and a top +uality new artificial trainin!/net area& ,ll this has only been possible throu!h the dedication and hard work of your Chairman, Committee members and a few special donations/contributions alon! the way& I would personally like to thank everyone who has been involved in helpin! to achieve all of this and I look forward to utilisin! all of these fantastic facilities as a member for many years to come& I now can not use the old e*cuse of the trainin! facilities not bein! any !ood so the pressure is on to start performin! on the field& -he disappointments of last season have now lon! passed but the memories are still fresh for me& I am personally workin! hard to ensure that as a first team we finally achieve some of our true potential and I e*pect us finish in the top two this year as a minimum! (ith this in mind I am pleased to announce that our very own Chris .dwards has been officially appointed club coach and has already been successfully runnin! the last few indoor trainin! session& For those of you who don/t know, Chris is a former .C0 cricketer of the year, has toured with .n!land to ,ustralia and 1outh ,frica and is a fully +ualified 2evel 3 coach& Chris will be runnin! the senior -hursday ni!ht sessions alon! with a number of other +ualified Caldy CC Coaches& (ith re!ards to new si!nin!s, I have the !reat pleasure in welcomin! back a couple of returnin! players in Dan Hargreaves (from premature retirement and James Ashcroft (fresh from his cheerleadin! studies in the 41, & (e can also welcome on board Simon Simcox from 4pton CC, a +uality swin! bowler and classy lookin! bat& Haroon Khan will a!ain be with us this season, he is now part of the Caldy family and he is so happy and settled here he has turned down a lot of bi! money offers to play elsewhere& Finally I can announce that we have secured the services of two e*cellent ,ustralian overseas players for this comin! year5 Brynley Richar s ("3 from 'ew 1outh (ales is an a!!ressive fast/medium bowler and +uality top order batsman, he has pervious e*perience of .n!lish conditions (and beer/women , he is a top lad and he will certainly fit in at Caldy& (hilst over here last year he was called up to have trials for 1urry and actually played in a few " nd 6I !ames for them& 7e is also a +ualified cricket coach& Davi Short ("3 from '1( is a youn! left arm swin! bowler who is payin! his own way over here to !ain some e*perience abroad but will be a more than useful player in our " nd 6I& ,!ain he is a top lad and will fit in here very well&

0oth lads are keen for as much work as they can whilst over here, so any opportunities that any members can provide will be !reatly appreciated& 8ust let myself or any member of the committee know if you have anythin! available bi! or small& 0oth hard workin! lads, prepared to do pretty much anythin! for money!!! ,lso both boys have 49 passports& 1o with the above additions, coupled with better player commitment and availability, I am e*tremely confident of a very successful season not :ust for the $ st 6I but also for the club as a whole& ,!ain the attendances for the indoor trainin! is a worry for the club& -hese sessions should be self fundin! if the numbers are !ood but for the second year runnin! we are !oin! to be si!nificantly down on takin!s! )utdoor senior nets officially start on -hursday $# th ,pril "#$% ; <&$=pm meet for a prompt <&3#pm start and will usually last two hours& -hese sessions are open to all paid up club members and we e*pect all $st > "nd s+uad players to be present every -hursday evenin! unless otherwise notified prior& -he club will be lookin! for ?$ of each member per session, this is contribute to the !eneral upkeep and maintenance of these facilities& -here will also be a 3#;%=mins session with a 1tren!th and Conditionin! Coach followin! on from each session, a!ain I e*pect all $st > "nd s+uad players to be involved but this is open to everyone to come alon! and @en:oy/ (there will be a small fee for this but I envisa!e it will only be ?";3ea A dependant on numbers! & (e will also be lookin! to put on a fish n chip/curry/hotpot suppers up in the bar after these sessions& ,ll of the 8unior trainin! will now be held on Friday evenin!s (check website for full details , please make yourself available to help out for at for at least two of these sessions as we envisa!e these been very busy (but hu!ely en:oyable club sessions& -he 0ar and the 00B will be fired for on these ni!hts for all to en:oy& -he "#$% fi*tures are all out now but there is a few to be tweaked but the Caldy CC Claycricket website for all of these& Myself and ,lan Mellor are puttin! to!ether sides for an inter;club -3# match on 1at $"th ,pril "#$% ("pm kick off , let either of us know asap if you wish to be considered for this match& -his season the $st -eam will be competin! in the followin! cup competitions5 2DCC 9nockout -rophy, .C0 Club Championship -rophy, 2DCC -"#, .C0 'ational -"# 9nockout, -he 2iverpool .cho -"# and a!ain we will have a team entered into the 2ast Man 1tands 2ea!ue& Clenty of opportunities to !et involved in $ st team action here all season& ,s well as the four senior sides on a 1aturday, there will also be a number of 1unday fi*tures a!ainst local and tourin! clubs& )nce a!ain we will be runnin! an over %#/s midweek lea!ue, further details can be obtain via Dave or from the club website& (e will also try a!ain to look to brin!in! back the (in Famous Caldy tour, further details to follow shortlyDDD ,s a club, we are fully committed to the development of :unior cricket& -his season will runnin! :unior teams at 4E, 4$$, 4$3, 4$= and 4$F levels and we will also have a 4$< and a 4"# teams entered into an 2DCC Cup Competitions&
