The fire pit in the sitting area is a traditional wood burning fire. Like the Woodland Chapel.A 01 S O L A C E P a v i l i o n I n T h e F o r e s t Autumn 2012 The Pavilion of Solace is a pavilion located within Skogskyrkogården in Stockholm. . The central wooden partitions connect the pavilion with the landscape. The pavilion is a counterpart to Gunnar Asplund’s Woodland Chapel. The pavilion is intended to bring solace and comfort to people who are mourning the death of a loved one. Fire symbolizing the eternal flame is revealed by the ‘line of fire’ which is a series of copper gas fire pits which expel fire in a linear fashion. The surrounding pine trees rise to heights of more than double the height of the pavilion. this pavilion is subordinate to the landscape. It is here where visitors may throw a stick into the fire in commemoration of their loved one.

The proportions of the pavilion were uniquely extracted from the geometry of the neighboring Computer Science Building. It offers an array of spaces suitable for people to eat. sit. talk. the pavilion unites the campus and promotes integration between the many faculties located on the street. It is an interactivev space where users can engage with it hollistically. and gather. Design Partner: Katie Hall . With the pavilion’s central location on Dalhousie University campus (on one of the boulevard islands on University Avenue).A 02 INTEGRATE P a v i l i o n o n C a m p u s Autumn 2012 This pavilion was designed with the purpose of enhancing public life by encouraging social gathering for all.

The house strives to integrate with previous architectural styles rather than imitate. One way in which this modern house design connects with the town is by taking on a barn-type form (one of the major house forms in Lunenburg).A 0 3 VERNACULAR H o u s e I n L u n e n b u r g Winter 2013 This modern dwelling is located in the town of Lunenburg. . one must carefully consider the consistency of the town’s historic architecture. When building in this urban fabric. an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Of key importance to the dwelling is the extremely livable open-concept main floor area which celebrates an exposed wooden structure.

one of the busiest streets in Halifax’s North end. .A 0 4C A P T I V A T E T h e a t r e i n t h e C i t y Summer 2013 The site of this concert hall and theatre was critical in informing design decisions for this project. In the past the neighborhood has faced social issues including crime and low-income housing. This theatre design intends to be a significant component in developing the Gottingen area and strengthening the community. the area has seen a cultural resurgence that can be partially attributed to a growing local arts scene. Recently. It is to function as a place where all can gather. The building is located on Gottingen Street.

My travels eventually led me to Italy. As I was travelling with a backpack I did not have the space to carry a large camera. . I had the opportunity to travel around different parts of Europe.
