Montage
Description: An inspirational montage made by the blending of two or more images, and the use of typography. Process: I cropped the background image to 8.5×11.The back ground image is the wall and T.V. Before I applied anything to the main back ground image I made a separate image using Photoshop and made a mock back ground image. I used the image of a street fighter game and selected two characters from separate T.V shows there where popular in the 90’s and then added a mask. With black paint and a 100% opacity, soft-edged brush, I painted away the hard image edges. I then saved this image and then moved it to the center of the television screen using a mask to fit the corners into screen. I then selected the image of the hands and moved them to the background image, then I added a mask with black paint and a 100% opacity, soft-edged brush, I painted away the hard image edges. With a larger black brush at 30% opacity and 30% flow, I blended the image into the background, so it looks like he is melting into the scene. I added some type with two contrasting fonts. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop Message: I wanted to convey a love of Vantage games and products. I wanted to show my audience how these timeless inventions are a work of art and will be remembered because no matter how the years go by the times with these products will stay with us forever. Audience: Anyone interested in the vintage time period. Colorized/Filter applied and where: I selected the background of the game street fight and increased the saturation to make the colors more vibrant. Color scheme: Tetradic and color names: Green, Red, Yellow, Purple, and Light Blue Top thing learned: How to gradually blend two images Font #1 Name & Category: Title; Orator Std– Sans Serif Font #2 Name & Category: Copy; Myriad Pro – Sans Serif

Message: I wanted to make an appealing poster for a Therapy clinic to help family, adults, and children. I wanted to incorporate an attractive fun color scheme to demonstrate my understanding of the color wheel. Audience: Anyone in the Rexburg area. Event Ad
Description: A color full-bleed event ad to promote a Disney princess marathon, using only Microsoft Word and a scanner. Process (Programs,Tools,Skills): I scanned the image of the runner which conveniently had a Disney theme background. I first added the body copy of the explaining about the event in the left corner on the picture. I changed the font to white so that it would stick out from the image. I then formed a box, where I would have the title, and I placed this at the top of the image. I filled the box using the gradient tool and then used the eye drop tool to collect colors from the image. Once again I then used the eye drop tool, to choose a color for the title font. I choose colors from the original image so that it would appeal to the eyes of the reader. Programs I used: Microsoft Word, Epson Scanner, PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter) Message: To promote runners and fans of Disney to participate in the Disney princess marathon. Audience: Athletes, and Disney lovers. Color scheme and color names: Analogous Relationship; Pale Violet Red, Salmon, and Sand Gold. Top Thing Learned: I learned that you can use Word for more than just writing documents, and I learned how to use the gradient tool. Description: Three logo variations for the same company. Process (Programs,Tools,Skills):The logo of the flamingo and the palm tree is my person favorite and the most time consuming. In Adobe Illustrator I typed out the company name using the Hobo STD font then used the direct selection tool to stretch out the words in to the shape of a flamingo and a stump of a palm tree. Using the pin tool I created leaves for the palm tree and legs for the flamingo. I used the shape tool to make two ovals, the larger one and the slightly smaller one black. I placed the black one over the green one so that it appeared to have a border. I then placed the Flamingo and palm tree in the center of the black oval so that it would stick out. For the circle logo of the skater, I used two adobe programs to create this design; Photoshop and Illustrator. The company is in Orlando, so I found an image online of the city and pulled it up into Photoshop, along with an image of a skater. I cropped the image of the skater and moved him into the image of the Orlando city. I saved this document as a jpeg then brought it up in Illustrator. I used the shape tool to make a hollow circle and aliened it to where I thought it looked best over the jpeg image. I then used the clipping mask tool to crop out the image into a circle. I used to the shape tool to make two more circles, one filled one hallow and centered them behind the jpeg image. I used the pen too to make a half circle to type text on. This was to curve the writing so I could place it into the outer circle. I felt that the logo was missing something so I created to small boxes, tilted them to look like diamonds and placed them along the side of the Jpeg photo. The Florida logo is simple but easy to recognize. I found an image of the state of Florida and pulled it up into Illustrator. I used the live trace function to outline the photo, this way I could change the shape and color of the state. I filled the state with the color green and used the text tool to put in the initials on the company. Using the shape tool I made a yellow circle to be the sun. This was a little boring, so I wanted to include a design to make it more unique. Inspired by the horizon I made several different thin, white rectangles and placed them over the yellow circle. Then I grouped all the shapes to become one logo. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Message: Welcome Home Skateboard Co. is a family based company that helps promote local artists and skaters in the Orlando area. Audience: Local skaters in the Orlando area. Top Thing Learned: I learned how to use the clipping mask, how to use the live trace function, and a better understanding of how to use the pen tool. Letter Head

Description: Business card and letter head for the Welcome Home Skateboard Company. For the back of the Business card I use a photo of the city of Orlando and applied text at the bottom left corner for the name of the company. With the front of the card I used Adobe Illustrator to created a Florida logo the forward it the Adobe Indesign program were I formatted the logo to fit in the 3.5” 2” card. Using Indesign I then placed texted over the logo. This made it difficult to read the information on the card, so I altered the opacity of the logo to make the font illegible to read. For the letter head I placed the same picture of Orlando ant the bottom of the letter and lowered the opacity of the photo so it would appear as if the city was fading into the paper. I cropped a design it give the picture flow and used the same design at the top. I then transferred this document to Indesign to add the text. Process (Programs,Tools,Skills): Adobe Illustrator Message: Welcome Home Skateboard Co. is a family based company that helps promote local artists and skaters in the Orlando area. Audience listed: Skateboarders in the Orlando area. Top thing learned: How to transfer documents from Adobe Illustrator to Adobe Indesign while keeping the quality of the work intact. Brochure

Description: A three sided folding brochure. Process (Programs,Tools,Skills): With a blank 11 by 8.5in computer paper I made a draft to measure the folds and so I could have a visual understanding of how I would organize my information. Once I collected the information that I needed, I opened two documents on Adobe InDesign and used a measuring tool to divide the documents into threes. In between the divided sections I used the shape tool to place an oval inside the empty space as a placement guide. The reason I chose an oval shape is because my brochure is for a Skateboarding company and wanted to make the brochure into the shape of a skateboard. I started with the Oval on the right of the first document for this would be the cover of the brochure. I made a logo for the company using Adobe illustrator then I opened the logo on to Adobe Photoshop and layered it with an image of skateboarding grip to give it a realistic skateboard look. I then placed the image to fit in between the oval. The middle oval would be the back of the brochure, so I wanted this too look like the back of a skateboard. Inspired by the companies very first deck design I used that layout concept and created a similar outline by using Adobe illustrator. I then took this image to Adobe Photoshop and layered it with trucks and wheels. I then centered this image to fit in the middle oval. The left oval would be seen once the brochure was opened. In this section I used an image of the company owner and a fellow skater climbing a tower that reads Orlando. I did this so readers would be more clarified by the company name (Welcome Home) before reading the brochure. For the second document I again used the shape tool to place an oval inside the empty space as a placement guide. I first started with the left oval in this section it would be explaining about the company and its purpose. I photoshoped two images of skaters and cropped them out of their image and placed them into InDesign. Once I had fit them in to the oval I used wordswrap tool to fit the text around the skaters. I repeat this process for the other two ovals but with different images and text. I then filled the document with a palm tree, sunset beach image that shared the same color schemes as the cover. So that the background wouldn’t be so distracting from the images and text I changed the opacity to 20% so it would be a faint setting. How I choose my text for this brochure I used the information from the Welcome Home Skateboards web page. I did some work with this company when it first started, which consisted of writing the short bio for the owner and giving an explanation of the other details of the company which was posted on there web site. These are my words so I reused them in the brochure. Though it is slightly different from the website it still gives the same information. Message: Inform my audience about the Welcome Home Skateboarders Company. I am showing them through the brochure what the company is and what they offer. Audience: Orlando visitors, and skateboard lovers. Top Thing Learned: I learned how to wrap text around an image in InDesign. Flier
Description:Black and white promotional flier to encourage people to attended the Graduate Leadership Conferences. Process:I first created several different outlines to choose from. When I had decided which flier I wanted to produce I constructed the layout on the Adobe InDesign. I used boxes to form the text. I separated the tittle, body copy, and date with three lines. I included a bar on the left side of the flier using the gradient tool to give it a more professional apple. I also incorporated a picture that was placed on top of the bar along with the logo by using the irregular rhythm technique. Message:To inform recent graduates there will be a conference concerningmatters on leadership and that they will find what they learned from this seminar to be beneficial and valuable to their future. Audience:Recent graduates who are 22-30 years of age. Top thing I learned:I learned how to use text in InDesign.
