the National Missionary Convention, which I will say I had a wonderful time, I was excited and pleased to meet so many of the
missionaries and their families that I will be worxing with.

It was a stimulating and fruitful time for me, as I talked
and listened and learned more about the customs and the culture

of Zimbabwe.

I am looking forward to arriving in Zimbabwe

and getting started on the work there.

Yet, there is the

continued frustration of support raising...and I am not the

only one to be feeling this way. I realized even more the great need for praying Christians. Christians that actually believe in prayer and put it to work in their lives. And yet how can we pray specific prayers as the Lord Jesus did
in John 17 if we do not. know who has needs and what those needs are. I am therefore, continuing to make my needs

A MESSAGE FROM MARCIA KAY THOMSON.

Ja3me Linda Free has volunteered to come work in Harare, Zimbabwe, Africa. She has been approved for this work by Central Africa Missions. We feel
that the Lord has directed her to this work as her talents and experience seem suited to the task awaiting her.

Since January 1983 Marcia Kay Thomson has been working in Harare. She is planning to leave in April 1986 to take a furlough. Jayne Linda needs to
be able to work with Marcia Kay for several months to leam all the different
facets of the work.

Jayne Linda will be involved in three main areas of work: Harare Christian
Church, Zimbabwe Christian College, and helping the other Central Africa
Mission missionaries.

The work in11arare~is vital txr-Hls kiugduEr;—Soon the Central-^Afrlca^^issioflr will have been in Zimbabwe 30 years. During this time most of the people
that have been reached for the Lord have been in the rural areas. We are

now in a position to reach people in the capital city. We feel that people here are more open to the Gospel than they have ever been. In 2H years the Harare Christian Church has grown from 60 to 200 in attendance and is build ing a church building. These 200 people are from varied backgrounds. The largest number are local Africans, but within this group we have people from several language areas. There are also some of mixed race. We have white people that are native to the country, too. Then we have people from several nearby African countries, and also India, Mauritius, England, and the USA.
The educational level is also varied. Some of the adults have never been to

school, speak very little English and do not read and write in their ot-ra language. There is a special Bible Class for the Shona-speaking people. We have others who have Doctorates. Jayne Linda will be a valuable member of
this congregation.

Ja3me Linda will also be involved with the Zimbabwe Christian College. At the present time there are 10 students, but many others have said that they plan to start in May 1986. These students are being trained to preach the Gospel and teach religious education in tiie government schools. There is a real need for trained preachers and teachers throughout the country.

description also. The school garden which supplies food fdr the students also needs supervision. We are looking for someone to take over the super vision and maintenance of the College, but until then she will be responsible
for these duties.

The Central Africa Mission has missionaries throughout the country, and because we are located in the Capital, much of our time is spent in liasi-ofl between these missionaries and government offices and businesses located here in Harare. We are in daily radio contact with our rural mission stations

which requires being at the radio on schedule and then following up requests
that are made.
