WHAT – State English syllabus K-10
The NSW Board of Studies BOS have published state syllabus documents for Phase 1 subjects; English, mathematics, science & history. NSW teachers will teach from these documents which includes the national curriculum content.

Objectives They define, in broad terms, the knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes to be developed through study in the subject K-10. Outcomes There are outcomes which cover only one mode, reading & viewing, writing & representing or speaking & listening. There are new multimodal outcomes which include content for Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing together.

Stage Statements

Summaries of the knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes that have been developed by students as a result of achieving the outcomes for each stage of learning.

Respond – is the activity that occurs as students read, listen to or view texts.

Compsing – is the activity that occurs as students produce written, spoken or visual texts

Reading Enriches Learning – part of ESA The Reading Enriches Learning website aims to stimulate and motivate all students to become confident readers.

The collections feature books chosen for younger readers (years 2–4) and older readers (years 5–8). Extensive resources have been created for each book
