RF Subsystem of the Macro NodeB

About This Chapter
The RF subsystem consists of the MAFUs and MTRUs and processes the RF signals. 4.1 Components of the Macro NodeB RF Subsystem The RF subsystem consists of the MTRUs and MAFUs. The MTRU subrack contains the MTRUs and the MAFU subrack contains the MAFUs. A pair of MTRU and MAFU processes bi-carrier signals over one TX channel and two RX channels. 4.2 Functions of the Macro NodeB RF Subsystem The boards of the RF subsystem form the RX channel and TX channel to process uplink RF signals and downlink RF signals.

intermediate analog signal amplification. 5. One port is used to receive and transmit signals. In MAFUs. The MTRU receives the downlink data distributed by the HBBI. two ports of the antenna system receive UL signals from UEs simultaneously. The antenna transmits the signals. DAC. the duplexers filter the signals from the receiving-and-transmitting port and the low noise amplifiers (LNAs) amplify the signals.BTS3812E 4 RF Subsystem of the Macro NodeB Figure 4-2 Logical structure of the RF subsystem Operating Principles of TX Channel The TX channel functions as follows: 1. Antennas of the two-port antenna system receive weak signals from UEs and send them to the MAFU through feeders. Then the UL signals are sent to the MTRU. The MTRU sends the amplified signals to the MAFU. and upconversion. Operating Principles of RX Channel In two-way receive diversity mode. The MAFU duplexer filters the signals. The HPA amplifies the small signals. while the other is used to receive signals only. the filters process the signals from the receiving-only port and the LNAs amplify the signals. The MTRU converts the data into small RF signals at WCDMA transmit band through pulse-shaping filtering. The RX channel functions as follows: 1. In MAFUs. Issue 02 (2007-09-30) . 2. DUC. 3. 2.

Also. it can bypass the DL transmit signals to the antenna. matched filtering. two HBBIs are connected to all MTRUs and work in mutual backup mode. Two RX channels can be configured with RX diversity function. As shown in Figure 1.4 RF Subsystem of the Macro NodeB BTS3812E 4. l 4-4 Huawei Technologies Proprietary Issue 02 (2007-09-30) . one HBBI is connected to the MTRUs in the primary cabinet. and DAGC. The MTRU processes the signals and sends them to the HBBI after signal amplification. and the other HBBI is connected to the MTRUs in the secondary cabinet. NOTE l l l If you configure a TMA. ADC. the common TX/RX port is named ANT A. and the RX port is named ANT B. For the two combined cabinets. down-conversion. The two HBBIs work independently. For the single cabinet. DDC. the TMA amplifies the UL signals and sends them to the MAFUs through the feeder.
