We will be publishing a quarterly issue starting in October 2005. What Is Happening At GTS?
Exciting Growth GTS is growing. We have recently hired two new service technicians. Derek Alvey joined us in September and Edward Antolik joined us in October. Both are highly qualified and experienced technicians. With Derek’s and Ed’s addition GTS now has six full time service technicians and two full time database and web site developers. New UPS Generator Several of our customers have parts of their web sites hosted on servers in our office. While we do not have frequent power failures in our office they do happen occasionally. We have now installed a new power generator connected to our server room that will automatically start and will supply uninterrupted power to our servers when there is a failure. This will insure that our customer’s web sites will not be down during these power failures.

Web Site Management
Web Site Control Panel All GTS customers who have web hosting services with us also have a web site facility called Control Panel. This is a very powerful tool that allows web site owners to manage and control their web sites. To get into the Control Panel for your site you must know your account name and password. Go to www.yourdomain.com/cpanel Note: not all web sites end in .com so use the exact name of your domain Some of the things you can do with email through your Control Panel are: Email accounts; You can add or delete accounts, change the quotas allowed for each account, and change passwords Enable or disable the Spam Assassin facility and configure how it works Enable or disable the Box Trapper facility; See more about this recently added facility in our Spam section Access the Web Mail for individual email accounts Setup email forwarders for individual accounts Add Auto Responders for individual email accounts Create Mailing Lists Create email Filters; See more about this and other recently added facilities in our Spam section Maintain how email sent to your web site with incorrect email addresses are handled (Default Address) View Statistics for your web site through your Control Panel: See different types of statistics for your site. These include hourly, daily and monthly visitor counts, page and file counts, bandwidth usage, search engine and “robot” visitor counts, etc See what search phrases people use to find your website Web Site Management Submit your web site to search engines Backup your web site content View your disk space usage Many more features to explore

Our servers are state of the art and constantly maintained. Our primary server is located in an off-site secured service center with 24 X 7 coverage, three high speed communications networks and generator power backup. The web server in our office is used for specialty web sites; it has a generator power backup (see What Is Happening… pg 1); and it has a full T1 communication network. Domain Name Registration and Management GTS offers complete domain name registration and management services. We constantly monitor your domain names for expirations, changes and unauthorized activity. We offer Private Registration services to keep your name, address, phone numbers and email addresses hidden from public viewing on the Internet. If you need a domain name registered for you or your business or your current registrar is not doing a good job for you, please let us know.

As everyone with an email account knows …… Spam is a big problem. GTS is no different than any of our customers. We get hundreds of junk emails each day and have to wade through it and manage it. There are some good email management tools that we have made available to our web hosting clients through the Control Panel. Spam Assassin. This is an optional feature that can be enabled or disabled for the entire site. Spam Assassin reviews all email coming into the site before it is delivered and “grades” the email based on preset criteria. If the grade is higher than the threshold you set for Spam, the email is marked with special headers and delivered to the recipient. It makes the Spam email much easier to manage in your email box. Box Trapper. This is a recent addition to the Control Panel. This software is optional by individual email account. Box Trapper maintains four different lists for each email account that has enabled Box Trapper. These are White, Black, Ignore and Forward. Any email sent to an email account with Box Trapper enabled is matched to these lists. If found in any of the lists, the email is directed as indicated (White List addresses are sent to the email address, Black List addresses are deleted and not sent, etc). If the email address is not found in any of the lists the sender is sent an email asking for a reply and the original email is held in a queue until the reply is received back from the sender (or deleted after a number of days). Machine generated emails will not send a reply, therefore the email was probably Spam and will be deleted after a few days. Filters. These provide another useful feature from the Control Panel. Filters evaluate every email to a web site (not individual email accounts) and determine if the email meets any rule you have established to ignore email. With proper caution, filters can do a very good job of cutting down on Spam. But, unfortunately, they sometimes do too good of a job. For instance many of us receive Spam which contains the word “CIALIS”. GTS created a filter for our web site to delete any email that contained this word. Recently a job applicant was sending us email that never reached us. It turned out that his email contained the word specialist. The word “specialist” contains CIALIS so all of his email was being deleted. We still use filters at GTS but are more cautious about what we put in them.
Roger Pencek is a long time GTS customer. He owns Acquisitions, Businesses & Investments (ABI) as well as Car Wash Brokers (CWB). GTS has developed web sites for both of Roger’s companies and also handles hardware and network support for his office. His web sites are: www.abibiz.com and www.carwashbrokers.com CWB specializes in the purchase and sales of all types of car wash businesses. ABI works with the sales and acquisitions of other types of businesses for investors. A few months ago Roger came to GTS and asked us to develop a professional web site that would allow his staff to change the content easily and frequently. His objective for both of his web sites was to increase web site traffic and exposure, allow visitors to get all the information they needed about business investments, and allow quick and easy contact with prospects, Roger and his agents. Roger says, ”We have 21 offices across the United States which specialize in the sale of car washes and you and your staff have met all of our requirements. Since the site has been up and running for the last 6 months, our productive business e-mail has increased substantially.” Roger goes on to say “I would urge anyone who is looking for a reputable company to develop and manage their website(s) to contact GTS. The GTS web site developer’s diversity, imagination and creativity combined is a resource which our previous website developer/manager could not provide”.

New Product Announcement continued from page 3 done for you. About a year ago GTS developed and installed a Service Order application for our service technicians to use for service calls. Now we are combining these two applications into one and enhancing the features considerably. Some of the features in the new OMS system will be Customer and Contact management, Project and Location management, Request For Quotes, Service Orders with multiple task assignments, pricing by task, One Time purchase and billing, Reoccurring billing, Invoicing, automated feeds to Quick Books and Peach Tree accounting, Time Keeping by Service Order, Task and Employee, Vendor payments and billing, and many types of management reporting. In addition, the OMS application can optionally be linked to your web site. This will allow customers to request quotes for work, employees to enter time and mileage to Service Orders, and Vendors to enter request for payments for Service Orders. The Customer and Contact management features will allow multiple addresses and phone numbers for each Contact, Multiple Notes and Reminders for each Contact and Customer, easy search and indexing of Customers by name, Active/Inactive and Prospects, and many reporting facilities. The invoicing and accounting interface will allow printing and/or emailing of invoices and time details reports by customer, historical document storage linked to customer records, and many other user friendly features. Basically this system will allow a service company like GTS to manage customer data, employee data, projects, Service Orders, Quotes, invoicing and accounting from one easy to use application. Emergency Computer Equipment
In the near future GTS will be adding a small inventory of new PC’s, new and used parts, network equipment, and supplies to its in-house inventory. This will primarily be equipment that is not available locally and would have to be ordered from a vendor. The intent is to have equipment available for our customers in the case of an emergency. This equipment will be available for sale to customers when they have equipment go out and need quick replacements.
