SUMMARY Olds College student in the Landscape management major, Bachelor of Applied Science degree program, graduate of the Landscape Management Diploma program, with educational background in computer aided drafting and sustainable horticultural practices. Possess experience with: proper plant selection and care, construction related calculations and installation, hand drafted concept plans, scheduling, cost estimates, and advertisement graphics. Key Competencies
Horticultural Practices  Apply knowledge of soils in a developed landscape to better the survival of integrated plant species.  Perform basic soil and water tests to assess the health of local landscapes with regards to possible amendment requirements.  Identify potential and existing pests and diseases common to plants in the landscape.  Identify a variety of plant species and their use in natural and urban landscape settings. Personal Relations  Utilize communication skills to co-ordinate projects in an efficient and goal oriented manner.  Communicate in a friendly, polite, and professional manner with clients, peers, and colleagues in the field, and office work place environments. Technology Skills  Use Excel to create budget sheet and project cost estimates with accurate formula and efficient set up.  Create schedules and project time line monitoring with Microsoft Project.  Write proposal documents, client letters, and reports in a professional format with Microsoft Word.  Construct advertisement tools with web design skills, brochure development, and photo editing on Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Publisher.  Develop landscape plans using AutoCAD and Google SketchUp with required layers, color, and professional labeling.

Hardscape Construction  Record elevation to utilize in calculating cut and fill operations, prepare project base, and final grade for project sites.  Wire small scale lighting projects and complete calculations on required electrical voltage.  Install irrigation piping and sprinkler heads after completing calculations on required water pressure and flow.  Operate landscape equipment safely while using required personal protective equipment and WHIMIS codes and conduct. WORK HISTORY Blue Grass Sod and Garden Center : Service Center Clerk June 2012 – Sept2012 Balzac, AB T0M 0E0  Consult with customers looking for advice by offering appropriate plant choices, pricing options, bulk product calculations, and delivery/planting pricing.  Provide customer hospitality and guidance for purchases, item locations and tours of tree lots and plant products.  Handle cash, debit, and credit transactions responsibly with accurate final calculations and safe storage practices.  Care for plant material with appropriate handling practices and respective watering practices. The Landscape Artist Inc. : Laborer May 2012 – June2012 DeWinton, AB  Excavate flower beds, low points and planting holes using shovels and wheel barrels to efficiently prepare the site for new soil, plants or mulch.  Plant trees, shrubs and perennials in allocated areas according to site plan, plant requirements, and client requests.  Preserve existing vegetation with appropriate barriers and construction practices to preserve developed root systems and above ground structures.  Use construction site equipment safely and efficiently with required personal protective equipment at all times.
