PRELUDE Prelude and Toccata on Lift High the Cross INTROIT Hosanna to the Son of David David Cherwien, b. 1957 Toms Luis de Victoria, 1548-1611

Hosanna to the Son of David. Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!

CALL TO WORSHIP (from Psalm 118) One: Many: One: Many: One: Many: All:

Luke Woodcock

Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord. Bind the festal procession with branches, up to the horns of the altar. You are my God, and I will give thanks to you; You are my God, I will extol you. The Lord is God, and he has given us light. O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, For his steadfast love endures forever. Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!

HYMN 88 (Blue Hymnal) All Glory, Laud, and Honor

Valet Will Ich Dir Geben

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (IN UNISON) One: All: One: All: Have mercy on us, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out our transgressions. Wash us thoroughly from our iniquity, and cleanse us from our sin. For we know our transgressions and our sin is ever before us. Against you, you alone, have we sinned, and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are justified in your sentence and blameless when you pass judgment. Indeed, we were born guilty. Blot out all our iniquities, create in us a clean heart, O God, and through your Son, our Lord, put a new and right spirit within us.

One: All:

Hosanna, hosanna to the Son of David, blest is the One who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna, hosanna to the Son of David; glory, glory be to God on high. The people heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem; riding on a donkeys colt, he came, palm branches spread before him. The disciples didnt understand what was happening at first; but when Jesus, the King, was glorified, then they remembered; it had all been written! based on John 12:12-16
At this time, children 9 years old and younger are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary with our volunteer leaders. The children and their leaders will worship in the chapel. They will be in "Children's Church" for the remainder of the morning and will meet parents in the social room.

HYMN 89 (Blue Hymnal) Hosanna, Loud Hosanna APOSTLES CREED (IN UNISON)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

ANTHEM Ride On, Ride On in Majesty

W. Glen Darst, 1896-1986

Ride on! Ride on in majesty! Hark! all the tribes Hosanna cry; O Saviour meek, pursue Thy road With palms and scattered garments strowd. Ride on! Ride on! Ride on in majesty! Ride on! Ride on in majesty! In lowly pomp ride on to die; O Christ, Thy triumphs now begin Oer captive death and conquered sin. Ride on! Ride on! Ride on in majesty! Ride on! Ride on in majesty! Thy last and fiercest strife is nigh; The Father on His sapphire throne Expects His own anointed Son. Ride on! Ride on! Ride on in majesty! Ride on! Ride on in majesty! In lowly pomp ride on to die; Bow Thy meek head to mortal pain, Then take, O God, Thy power, and reign. Ride on! Ride on! Ride on in majesty!
