Assume size of beam as 300mm wide and 500mm deep(overall) design the beam for torsion (as per is code)assuming a total udl(dead load +live l oad) OF 5 KN/M2 on the cantilever projection as shown.assume fixity at ends of the beam against torsion as well as flexure. 4) a doubly reinforced beam of size (300x450)mm is r/f with 4-20mmdia bars on compression side and 6-20mm dia bars on tension side.find the ultimate moment of resistance of this section assume effective cover of 35mm on both sides use M15 concrete and fe250 steel. 5)determine the ultimate moment of resistance of a doubly reinforced rectangular beam having dimensions(300mmx500mm)effective is reinforced with steel of 1960mm2 and compressive steel of 804mm2 both placed at an effective cover of 50mm .use M20 concrete and FE250 steel. 6) a doubly reinforced beam of size (250x 450)mm is r/f with 4-20mm dia bars on the tension side and 4 bars of 18mm dia on the compression side.assume an effective cover of 50mm, M25 grade of concrete and FE415 steel. Use M20 mix and FE415 grade of steel. 11)a T beam of a classroom floor is 600mm deep(effective)the thickness of flange is 120mm and width of web is 275mm. determine the area of steel required to resist a moment of 650 KNM . assume effective flange width =1100mm.use m20 concrete and FE415 Steel 12)design a biaxially loaded braced rectangular column deforming into single curvature for the following data a) column c/s =230x 450mm b) ultimate axial load =600kn c) ultimate moment acting parallel to longer direction end moment at top =60KNM end moment at bottom=30 KNM d) unsupported height=6m e) effective height in longer direction =5m f) effective height in shorter direction =4.5m g) effective cover=50mm h) grade of concrete=M20 i) grade of steel= FE500. 13) A square column with overall size (350x350)mm is having an effective length of 6.25m and the unsupported length of 7.3 m. the column carries axial load of 800 KN and moments of 50 KNM and 30 KNM at top and bottom respectively.design the column if M20 Concrete and FE415 steel is provided.

Assume the column to be slender, braced column with bend in single curvature. 14)design the long reinforcement for a braced column of size 300mm x 400mm subjected to a factored axial load of 1500kn and factored moments of 60 knm and 40 KNM with respect to major axis and minor axis respectively at the top end .assume the column to be bend in double curvature(in both directions) with the moments at the bottom equal to 50% of the corresponding moments at the top. Assume the unsupported length of 7m and an effective length ratio of 0.85 in both Directions. Use M15 concrete and FE415 steel. Assume effective cover of 60mm. 15) a square RCC column carries factored load of 1200 KN and a factored moment of 150 KNM. The overall size of column is 450mm x 450mm.assume the bearing capacity of soil as 150 KN/m2 and unit weight of soil is 20 KN/m3 use M20 concrete and FE415 steel.design the square footing for the column and draw a neat sketch of r/f details. 16)design a r/f concrete square footing for a column section(400x400)mm which is subjected to an axial load of 1000KN and uniaxial moment of 200KNM at service state. Assume unit wt of soil as 20 kn/m3.angle of repose of soil =300and allowable bearing Capacity 150 KN/M2 . use M20 concrete and FE415 steel. 17) carry out moment redistribution for fixed beam of 6m span carrying udl of 15kn/m over entire span .taking 30%redistribution of moment. 18)A fixed beam of 9m span carries 2 point loads of 100kn each acting at 2m m from each support.plot the BMD taking 20%moment redistribution. 19) a r.f concrete fixed beam of each span 5.4m carries 2 concentrated loads each 12KN AT 1/3rd points as shown in figure. Draw BMD after 30%redistribution of moments. 20)A continous beam of 2 span each 6m is subjected to dead load of 10kn/m.plot BMD after 30%moment redistribution taking load factor as 1.5. SECTION B 1)Design two way slab panel of size 4.5mx6m supported on 230mm thick brick wall with 2 adjacent edges continous ,slab carries superimposed load of 2.5kn/m2 with floor finish as 0.5 kn/m2 use M20 concrete and FE415 steel. 2)Design a slab panel for room having effective dimensions of 4m x 6m,slab has one long edge continous and all other discontinous.the slab carries live load of 4 kn/m2 and floor finish of 1 kn/m2design the panel using M20 concrete and FE415 steel provide all the necessary checks and show r/f details

3)design of cantilever retaining wall of stem height 4m retaining dry granular horizontal backfill,the properties of soil retained are density=18kn/m3,=300,SBC=150KN/M2. use M20 concrete and FE415 steel and check the stability of retaining. 4)design a combined rectangular footing for two columns A and B carrying load of 500 and 700 KN respectively.column A IS 300X 300mm in size and column B is 400mm X 400mm in size.the centre to centre spacing of the columns is 3.4metres.the safe bearing capacity of soil may be taken as 150 N/m2.Use M20 concrete and FE415 steel. 5)design a combined trapezoidal footing for two columns A and B ,spaced 5metres centre to centre. Column A is 300 x 300mm in size and transmits a load of 600 KN.column B is 400x400mm in size and carries a load of 900 KN.The maximum length of footing is restricted to 7 metres only.the safe Bearing capacity of soil may be taken as 120 KN/M2.use M20 concrete And FE415 steel. 6)Design a strap footing for two columns A and B spaced 5metres centre to centre column A 300 X300mm in size carries load of 600 kn and is on the property line column B 400x400 mm in size carries a load of 900 kn .the bearing capacity of soil is 120kn/m2.use M20 and FE415 steel. 7)Design a counterfort retaining wall to retain 7m high embankment above ground level. the foundation is taken 1m deep where the safe bearing capacity of soil may be taken as 180kn/m2.the top of earth retained is horizontal and soil weighs 18kn/m3 with angle of internal friction =300.coefficient of friction between concrete and soil may be taken as 0.5.use M20 concrete and FE415 steel. 8)Design a T-shaped cantilever retaining wall to retain earth emabankment 3m high above ground level.the embankment is surcharged at angle of 160 to the horizontal the unit weight of the earth is 18kn/m3 and anfle of repose is 300.the safe bearing capacity may be taken as 100 kn/m2 at a depth of 1m below the ground .the coefficient of friction between concrete and soil may be taken as 0.5.use M20 concrete and FE415 steel. 9)an under ground room of a dimensions 10,x12m between the existing walls 500mm thick is to be provided with a rcc roof using one column at the centre Of the room and four beams so that the slab is divided into four panels of 5m x 6m The roof is to carry a live load of 5kn/m2.
