Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

Praise the Lord for you who have been faithfully supporting the work here so that the gospel seed may be sown. You will be happy to know that this seed has again brought forth fruit. On June 15 a young father was immersed after we had weekly teaching
sessions in his home for several months. The mother had previously been immersed and is now teaching our pre-schoolers during the worship hour. We pray that they will continue to grow spiritually. He cleans and lays carpets, and recently donated a lovely carpet for the aisle and platform, .and also a big, sturdy swing set which the little
children love.

For years we have been teaching and praying for a young woman who is now a college sophomore and has attended regularly since she was in the ninth grade. She is a will ing worker, and has many outstanding characteristics, but we grieved because she lacked a personal Savior. She faithfully attended our training sessions for VBS help ers this summer, and after a lesson on salvation, I talked to her again about her spiritual needs. She agreed that she should become a Christian and stated that she would discuss it with her parents. She was baptized the following Sunday evening. You may recall that I baptized Mitchell in December and he brought a friend to Christ in March. He has done it again. One Saturday late in July, Mitchell telephoned and said he had a friend who wanted to be baptized. I talked with the boys at length and found that he was ready to become a Christian according to the Lord's plan. He was immersed that afternoon and has been attending regularly. We are further encouraged by the attendance the past few weeks of a schoolmate of Amy's. She was reading her Bible and asking Amy serious questions during the past school year, but her mother would not permit her to attend church. Near the end of the summer permission was obtained, and now she comes regularly. Just this week she talked to Amy about becoming a Christian but her parents have refused to allow her to be baptized. Please pray for Lynn that she will keep attending the services and her parents will allow her to accept this gift of salvation. Our Philip has been talking about being baptized for several months, but >^s reluc tant to do so if he had to wear a bathing cap to protect his ears. He is only 9 so we did not press the issue, knowing that when he was really convicted he would willingly be "laughed at". Last Sunday the Children's Church lesson was on Solomon, stress ing his words in Ecclesiastes 12:13, "Fear God, and keep his commandments. " Philip again stated that he wanted to be baptized but could not because of his ears.
We told him that the Doctor had removed the tubes and his ear drums had healed so

this was the perfect opportunity. He was baptized at the evening service. His physical progress is not so encouraging. Three weeks after the tubes were removed the Doctor checked him and said the fluid which had caused his hearing loss formerly
was collecting again, and his hearing was already affected. He will check Philip

again on Saturday and reinsert the tubes if necessary. Of course, our chief concern is that he will be able to hear well, and that no chronic ear infection develops. We appreciate your concern and prayers on his behalf.
We really appreciate the fine help and the Christian witness of Carolyn Colter, the young school teacher from Winston-Salem, N. C. , who helped us this summer. W wondered what we would do for a teacher for oqr Youth Class when she left. The Lord provided as usual, Carolyn introduced us to a school mate from Milligan Col lege, Cheryl Ottenberg, who is teaching this winter on the neighboring island of Molokai, There are less than 6000 people on this island and we have NO churches there. Cheryl had originally planned to fly back to Honolulu occasionally over the weekends to have the Lord's Supper, but when she learned of our needs for a teacher,

she decided to come back here every week to teach.

Praise God for those like her

who are willing to make financial sacrifices in order to serve Him. Would you be willing to pay about $70 per month to get to church and to serve in His kingdom as
she is ?

This reminds us of a young couple who has been sending us $20 per month for the
entire seven years our ministry here. They began while they were struggling through Bible College with two small boys to support. They continue while he is serving in small congregations, and now in a mission work himself. Just think how many things, that some people consider necessities, they could have bought with a monthly payment like that, but they PREFERRED to do without these earthly trea sures to spread the gospel, and to buy "treasures in heaven, "
We realize that YOU CAN find some worthwhile way to use every penny that the Lord permits you to handle, but we pray that you will be willing to forego some earthly comfort or convenience in order to support the Lord's work here. Our financial needs

are still pressing.

We received just over $300 in August to pay our salary and the

expenses oi the work. With the high cost of living these days, it is impossible to make ends meet on this, so I have had to take secular work to-aup_plem^nt_our income, - We pray that this will only be temporary. We received a little additional support and encouraging letters after our last newsletter, but we need regular amounts. Will you present this need to your class, to your church, to your family, and pray that the funds will soon be forthcoming? This is YOUR work for the Lord, too, and it is severely hampered by lack of funds. Our Revival Fires telecast is bringing in prospect cards from all the islands, but we need financial help to keep
it on the air.

We really appreciate your prayers and concern, realizing that the spiritual victories and our physical welfare come as a result of your faith and intercession. May our
combined efforts for the Lord bear fruit around the world.

Yours for winning souls,

CHARLES C, LUTTRELL and famiLy-i- Henrietta, Amy, Leta, Mark, Philip, and Lora
