1. How many liters of a 70% alcohol solution must be added to 50 liters of a 40% alcohol

make a saline solution that is 10% salt?

3. Find the selling price per pound of a coffee mixture made from 8 pounds of coffee that
sells for P9.20 peso per pound and 12 pounds of coffee that costs P5.50 peso per pound.

4. How many pounds of lima beans that cost $0.90 per pound must be mixed with
16pounds of corn that costs 0.50peso per pound to make a mixture of vegetables that costs
0.65peso per pound?

5. Two hundred liters of a punch that contains 35% fruit juice is mixed with 300 liters (L)of
another punch. The resulting fruit punch is 20% fruit juice. Find the percent of fruit juice in

1. A piece of 16-gauge copper wire 42 cm long is bent into the shape of a rectangle whose

INVESTMENT PROBLEMS

1. Jack has 7,000 pesos to invest.If he invest part of his money at 6 percent simple annual
interest and another part at 8 percent rate per year, he will get an annual income of 520
pesos. How much should Jack invest on each?

2. Sam invests 6,000peso in two bank accounts. One of the accounts pays 8% interest per
year, and the other account pays 10% interest per year. If the total interest earned on the
investments is 560 pesos after one year, how much money was invested in each account?

3. You put 10000 pesos into an investment yielding 6% annual interest; you left the money
in for two years. How much interest do you get at the end of those two years?
