Daily Diagnostic CHOPCHECK tm 3
When you are able to play letter of the Ripples, you will be slurring up to double high C and back.
The ripples can also be extended up further, by beginning on succeeding notes playable by the 1/3
combination, slurring up and down the octave and moving upward chromatically for succeeding
intervals.
Follow the ripples with "flow studies" such as the 13th characteristic study of Arban, or the 31st
orchestral etude of Vassily Brandt. Maintain the flow of airstream, keeping the sensation of a
bubble of air inside your mouth as you play and allowing the trumpet to move as you play,
thus keeping the facial muscles as still as possible.
etc.

1. Double Low Pedal tones
2. Long Toners
3. "Eyeblinkers"
Play double-low pedal tones very quietly!
(Blow your airstream straight ahead &make the slur by moving the trumpet across the air)
(Use FULL air on each note, as if you are coughing. RELEASE the notes, not "attack")
