Lesson Objective After visual representation and explanation

Section 3a. Opening Session

Opening to include the following elements:

Gain attention Alright students its time to get started on our
Social Studies for today.
State behavior expectations Everyone will stay in their seats and respond
appropriately to my questions.
Prior Knowledge We have been looking at different things on the
map, we already know where the major rivers
and mountain ranges are located now we will

learn where other things on the globe are, such
as the equator and Prime Meridian.
Lesson Objective How many students know that the world is
round? We have a great model of the round
earth, called a globe. Today we will determine
where different things are on the globe.

3b. Work Session
Instruction: (Day 1)
I. Identify your concept. (include auditory and visual learning styles.)
Today we will locate the equator, prime meridian, and lines of latitude and longitude on the globe.
And then I will point to the I can statement on the board.

II. Define your concept. (Include auditory and visual learning styles.)
Basically I will show them where the different things are on the globe.

The equator is an imaginary line drawn around the earth equally distant from both poles, dividing the
earth into northern and southern hemispheres and constituting the parallel of latitude 0. The Prime
meridian is the zero degree longitude line. I will also define both Lines of Latitude & Longitude.
