Attained additional skills in the Java programming language to complete a series of tasks required
by the course syllabus. For example, developing a control system to navigate a virtual robot
around a maze towards a specific target.
Developed an understanding of the UNIX operating system as a non GUI system involving
command line entry for simple tasks such as folder and directory management.
Built upon existing knowledge of HTML and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) in order to develop an
online diary which recorded information on module lab sessions.

GlobalSign Ltd. June2010
Completed a work experience placement at the European headquarters of GlobalSign in
Maidstone, Kent. GlobalSign is a certification authority, and the placement with the marketing
department provided team working experience, as well as building social and IT skills.
Managing a Small Business September2011October2013
Recognised a market opportunity within the local area and established a part-time dog walking
business. Earned the trust of customers who provided keys to access their homes enabling dogs to
be walked outside of sixth form commitments.
Alsager Golf & Country Club Summer2011
Worked as a waitress through the summer, building upon confidence, social skills and teamwork.
The ability to work well under pressure was crucial.

Winner of "Graphic Designer of the Year Award 2011" for Cheshire. A GCSE final year graphic
design project was initially entered into a local area competition and having won this, was
successfully entered into a higher level regional competition.
First year representative for Computer Science and Discrete Maths in the Student Staff Liaison
Committee. This involves reporting any issues raised by first year students to members of the
Computer Science department.
Participating in the Sprint Programme for women undergraduates" from 18th-20th November
2013.

Enjoys being involved in university life and is a member of the Computing and Warwick Women in
Finance Societies.
Thoroughly enjoys participating in events for local charities, having completed a 26km cyclethon
for three consecutive years, as well as participating in sponsored walks to raise money at a
national level for JDRF.
Whilst attending sixth form provided regular tutoring to young students who found mathematics
challenging and mentoring to students struggling with school/home life.
An active volunteer for the charity "Friends for Leisure" since September 2012 which aims to help
young teenagers with disabilities make new friends and participate in group activities.
Volunteering involves helping out at fortnightly youth group sessions and meeting regularly with
a young person to participate in social activities. This area of the charity is very important as it
creates freedom for the young people, allowing them to be independent and to go out with a
friend rather than a carer.
