MONSIGNOR BONNER & ARCHBISHOP PRENDERGAST
CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
May 12, 2014
Dear Class of 1982,
As proud graduates of Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast, we are writing to ask you to join us in supporting
the newly combined descendant of our schools, Bonner-Prendergast Catholic High School. An important part of our
formative years was spent in the classrooms of Bonner and Prendie and we look back on those years with great fondness.
Not only did we receive an excellent education but our foundation in the Catholic faith was developed and strengthened.
We also came away from Bonner and Prendie with many great friendships and even more great memories, too many
memories to count, although allow us to mention a few.
For the Prendie girls, who can forget turning each other’s rings on Ring Day, Music on the Stairs at Christmas or if you
were the adventurous type, sneaking up to the famous Bell Tower?
For the Bonner boys, how many of you remember that JUG stands for “Justice Under God”? Who can forget how bad our
neckties looked, reaching only halfway down our shirts with huge oversized knots? And who can forget Father Jordan
banging out a spare locker keys or how inspirational it was to be in the presence of Father Atkinson?
Outside of school, there were many exciting things happening during those years. On a local sports front, the Phillies won
their first World Series championship in October of our junior year. Later during that school year, the Eagles made their
first ever trip to the Super Bowl. The game was played on the same weekend that our basketball teams played Cardinal
O’Hara. Since the Eagles opponent was the Oakland Raiders, the weekend was dubbed “Beat O” weekend. It came with the
promise of a day off on Monday if all teams won. We upheld our end, the Eagles did not.
The new Bonner-Prendie is committed to delivering the same great experience we had to the current students, while
providing financial assistance to families in need. To that end, the B&P development office has recently initiated a class
agent program. The goal of the program is to generate the cost of attendance for one year from every class. As your newly
drafted class agents, we ask that you help the class of 1982 achieve this goal, which amounts to raising $7,000 per year.
With over 700 graduates from our class, we know this is a very attainable goal and something we can go well beyond! We
very much appreciate your consideration and support, please know that your participation of any amount really does help a
student in need at Bonner & Prendie.
Please submit your contribution using the enclosed envelope or for an easier option and/or to set up continuous giving, visit
the school website, www.bonnerprendie.com, and click on the link entitled “Donate Today”.
Thank you for your consideration and generosity!
