Video Tarot Teachings Worksheet
Vol.1 February 22 2013

Congrats! You’re on a path to self-discovery with Tarot. This is an ongoing learning
process. There are endless ways to grow with Tarot and each month I look
forward to expanding my own knowledge of Tarot & Oracle Cards together with
you. This is Volume 1 so we are going to start right at the beginning.
Selecting Your Cards
When selecting a Deck here are some tips to remember.
1. Follow your intuition. Buy a deck that is calling your name. One that “feels”
good in your hands, even through the box.
2. When you know you have the right type of Tarot Deck and there are
multiple on the shelf. Ask above to guide you to the perfect deck for you.
Put your hand hovering above each of the options and feel the strongest
pull.
3. Look at the pictures…can you make sense of what they show? Make sure
you can relate to the art work.
4. Is the Tarot or Oracle Cards your style? We all have a sense of style and
there are so many Tarot and Oracle Decks out there these days let your

style show through in the deck that you choose. Your clients will say “That
deck is so you!”
5. Your cards should be an extension of you, if they don’t feel right put them
back/away. If you haven’t purchased the Deck yet and you get a nervous
feeling, this means that particular Deck is not for you. Put them back on the
shelf. (If you own the Deck already, this doesn’t mean get rid of the deck,
maybe just give them a break or only pull them out when there is a certain
type of reading to do.)
6. If you want to learn Tarot make sure you have a Tarot Deck with 78 Cards.
Oracle Cards vary from but mostly 44 cards to more but the meanings don’t
usually correspond with the Tarot Deck. I use both and find that it just
brings more insight to the readings with multiple decks. But we will talk
about that in future Tarot Teachings.
Connecting with Your Deck
Do:
1. Carry Your Deck EVERYWHERE. They like to get out and about. Plus you
never know where/when someone will want a reading.
2. Treat your Tarot Deck with respect. Remember your Deck has a personality,
just like you. They like to loved and taken care of.
3. Have a special location for them in your home. You should have an area
that is your Tarot spot where you get into the groove.
4. Use Tarot only when your mind is clear.
5. Pick a Card of the Day, hold the essence of the card as you go about your
day. Think of how the Card relates to any given situation as the day
progresses. Look at your card of the Day a few times throughout the day.
6. Have a special Tarot bag or case that your cards live in. Pick your favorite
color and fabric and make a bag or get one at your local Metaphysical store.
This is mine that I made with fabric I had.

7. Do a meditation with your cards. This can be the whole Deck or one at a
time to gain deep insight into one card. Also, these meditations really
connect you deeply with the deck as a whole.
8. Now this is something I am going to try… Sleep with your deck under your
pillow for a month. Please put them in your cloth case and ask them to
connect with your subconscious. I am really curious about this one and will
let you know about it.
9. Ask for support, protection and guidance from your Guides and Angels
before you do a reading and ask for the greatest good for all. Know that
Spirit is with you in any and all readings.
10. Notice what stands out or pops out on a particular card for you. Mention it
in the reading your doing. What is that image symbolic of?
11. Start a Tarot Journal. Write down insights and learning’s on each and every
card as you come to understand that particular suit, card or meanings.
12. Relate the cards to your own daily and life experiences. You will remember
all the cards far easier if you connect it to a time in your personal life.
13. Use your Intuition. What are your gut instincts nagging you to say? What do
you feel like blurting out? Blurt it out! Trust that feeling to say “rainbow or
fish” that may mean something to the other person. (It doesn’t always
make complete sense to the reader)
14. Read about Tarot. Study books, the book that came with your deck or
follow a Blog. Tarot is a never ending topic. And nobody reads the cards the

same and nor should they. That is where you need to develop your very
own style. How you do things.
15. Experiment with the Tarot. Just try random stuff out. I have some
suggestions a bit further down.
16. Write yourself a cheat sheet. I have been doing Tarot for so long but I never
remember what signs are with the Court Cards. I look every time unless I
get the feeling to blurt out Libra. Then I say Libra.

Don’t:
1. Don’t use your cards under the influence of alcohol or drugs. (This not the
time for spiritual insights)
2. Don’t use the cards when you are extremely upset. It is best to wait and
feel at least calm to investigate a situation.
3. Don’t think that the cards are 100% accurate all the time. They just aren’t.
They provide insight but know that ultimately your life is up to you and it’s
your choices that make your life great or less than appealing.
4. Don’t do Readings for people that don’t want one. This infringes on their
energy field and it is simply inappropriate.
5. Don’t keep asking the same question over and over again. You won’t get a
different answer without time in between to let life unfold.
6. Don’t do Readings for absolutely anyone. Use your gut. If someone comes
up to you and asks for a reading and you are not in the mood, you just
don’t feel like it or you do not like the energy of that person. Just say no,
perhaps another time. If your instincts are whispering in your ear saying
don’t do it. Please don’t. It really is OK to say no.

7. Don’t do readings for people that are drunk. They will not get “it” or
remember what you are saying anyways and it is a waste of time for all
involved.
8. Don’t do full readings for yourself or a client too often. I learned this the
hard way. You just get confused and no real clarity shows up. Small
readings can be done quite frequently such as a daily card or 3 card reading
every week but a full Celtic Cross or year a head should only be done
around once every three months. (Unless a super big issue comes up)
9. Don’t ignore the Tarot reading just because you don’t like the answer. Use
this as an opportunity to learn why you got into the situation in the first
place or ask for guidance on how to change the direction.
10. Don’t take the credit or the blame in a reading. All readings go through
spirit and really has nothing to do with you. So if you are really accurate,
give thanks to the Helpers, if you weren’t don’t feel bad.
11. Don’t give away your readings for nothing. There has to be an energy
exchange. Giving and receiving. For example, the receiving end doesn’t
have to be money but it could be feedback, super valuable to get you to be
a better reader. Or dinner cooked by a friend, or a small gift of some sort. If
you do a whole bunch of readings for absolutely nothing your “gift or
intuition” will take a nose dive and you won’t receive the messages you are
meant to receive. (and that is sad)
12. Don’t think that your readings don’t mean anything to people. Realize that
the readings you give affect people’s lives. Your clients make life choices
based on these readings. Please be kind with your words and show great
compassion and empathy for people going through transformational
periods. Chances are you have been that vulnerable at some point in your
life too.

Favorite 3 Card Spreads
Three Card Spreads can be used to get an answer quickly and to the point.
Sometimes they are even better than doing a full reading just because they are
short and sweet.
When asking the Tarot a question it is best to phrase the question with an open
ended answer instead of a yes or no. Such as; How do I move forward in my
Career, then lay out 3 cards and reveal the insight.

Card 1 Card 2 Card 3

3 Card Spreads for Problem Solving
Challenge / Solution / Advice
You / Problem / Solution
Option 1 / Option 2 / Option I haven’t thought about

Option 1 / Option 2 / What I need to know to choose
Situation at the present moment / Obstacle / Advise
Issue / where I need to focus / Solution
What you want / What is blocking you / How do I receive the best outcome?
For Relationships
What you want / what they want / outcome
Where we are / where you want to be / how to get there
You/ your partner/ the relationship
The issue or disagreement / the Solution / the next step
What brings you closer / what tears you apart / what needs attention
immediately
Strengths of the relationship/ weaknesses of the relationship / how to overcome
Just For Fun
Ask the cards about the day and see how they match up.
Morning / Afternoon / Night
Notice the feelings/happenings of the day and compare it to the card for the
same time frame. For example if you pick the World card for the morning, maybe
and opportunity comes up to travel or you are just feeling on top of the World.
And for the afternoon you get the 6 of Cups and you run into an old friend. For
the evening you lucky person you picked the Strength card and passion runs wild.
Or you need to have Strength throughout the evening for whatever reason.
When you lose something such as your keys ask…

Where were they last / give me a hint on where “it” is / how will I find them?
See if you can place where they were last; like if the 5 of Pentacles comes up that
is the front door. Or if a Court card comes up as the hint it may be at your friend’s
front door. Notice on the how you would find them what is the action on the card
such as the Queen of Swords is sitting. So look on the sofa and chairs. Or maybe
you will just by accident find that item while sitting down. Try to piece it together.
Cleansing Your Tarot & Oracle Cards
I like to cleanse my Cards every so often. Now, I know that sounds a bit “out
there” but you should be able to feel when your deck needs a fresh energy. When
you think, maybe I should cleanse this deck, well then you should.
All I do is put some Clear Quartz and sometimes Citrine as well or just Citrine on
top of my Tarot and Oracle Cards and leave it overnight. Sometimes I put Blue
Quartz on top of them too. That is super helpful for finding your Tarot voice. 
As well, anytime I smudge the house I bring the smoke close by waving my eagle
feather towards my decks very carefully. While I do this or any of the cleansing
techniques I set the intention for the deck to be cleared and thank them for all
those beautiful readings that they gave to me and my clients.
Hope you enjoyed the first Volume of the Tarot Teachings Video Series. Let me
know how things go for you. I love to hear what you have learned or what other
