The Member Services Staff are your
point people to learn what’s going
on at the Y. They have information
on programs, classes, camps, regis-
tration and facility schedules. Mem-
bers are asked to present their Y
membership card every time they use
the facility. Simply hand your card to
Member Services and they will scan
you (and your family) in.
YOUTH POLICY
The following guidelines apply to
all youth who are not participating
in a supervised, structured YMCA
program. While in the facility: Youth
ages 7 and under must have DIRECT
supervision by an adult at all times.
Youth ages 8-10 must be accompa-
nied by a supervising individual (age
14+) who remains in the building.
The supervising individual does not
have to be in the same area as the
youth. The youth may sign them-
selves in and out of the program
areas if required and must follow
the age restrictions posted for spe-
cifc areas. Youth ages 11 and over
are not required to be accompanied
by a supervising individual but are
subject to the age restrictions for
specific areas.

CHILD CARE
WEEKLY SESSION INFORMATION
WEEK 1: JUNE 16 – 20 WEEK 2: JUNE 23 – 27 WEEK 3: JUNE 30 – JULY 3* WEEK 4: JULY 7 – 11
“The Beginning” “Decisions” “Good Things” “Bumps n Slumps”
“Congratulations! Today is your day.
You’re off to great places, you’re off and
away. You have brains in your head, you
have feet in your shoes. You can steer
yourself any direction you choose.”
The Beginning is full of activities, games,
crafts and more all related to travel,
while sprinkled with Seussiness.
“You’ll look up and down streets.
Look’em over with care. About some you
will say, “I don’t choose to go there”.
With your head full of brains and your
shoes full of feet, you’re too smart to go
down a not-so-good street.” Campers
will learn about making choices, how
good choices are met with reward and
poor choices may have consequences
— a tool they will need as they venture
through life.
“And when things start to happen, don’t
worry, don’t stew, just go right along.
You’ll start happening too...Wherever
you fly, you’ll be best of the best. Wher-
ever you go, you will top all the rest.”
Life is filled with good things —
sometimes we have to stop and spend
time enjoying them.
This week is all about good things in life.
“It’s true that Bang-ups and Hang-ups
can happen to you. You can get all
hung up in a prickle-ly perch. And your
gang will fly on, you’ll be left in a lurch.
You’ll come down from the lurch with an
unpleasant bump and the chances are,
then, that you’ll be in a slump.” Campers
will gain tools to guide them through the
slumps that will happen in their lives. All
while playing games, making crafts, and
making amazing memories.
WEEK 5: JULY 14 – 18 WEEK 6: JULY 21 – 25 WEEK 7: JULY 28 – AUG 1 WEEK 8: AUGUST 4 – 8
“Waiting” “Finding Bright Places” “The One & Only” “Resiliency”
“The waiting place...for people just wait-
ing...waiting for the fish to bite or wait-
ing for wind to fly a kite...or a string of
pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with
curls or Another Chance”.
This week campers will need patience
to fnd out what the next great activity
will be...Shh don’t tell them. They have to
“wait” and see.
“You’ll fnd the bright places where
boom bands are playing? With banner
fip-fapping, once more you’ll ride high!
Ready for anything under the sky.” This
week we’ll explore looking at the bright
side of things.
“I’m afraid that some times you’ll play
lonely games too...whether you like it
or not, alone will be something you’ll be
quite a lot.” Being alone doesn’t have to
be lonely. Campers will discover that
each one of them is an amazing indi-
vidual person. And when you like being
you, alone doesn’t have to be lonely.
“Step with care and great tact and
remember that Life’s a great balancing
act. Just never forget to be dexterous
and deft. And never mix up your right
foot with your left”. Resiliency and
perseverance are the words of the
week. Campers will need both as they
conquer challenges and obstacles.
WEEK 9: AUGUST 11 – 15 WEEK 10: AUGUST 18 – 22 WEEK 11: AUGUST 25 – 29
“Ups & Downs & Ups Again” “Outside the Box” “Get Movin’ and a Groovin’!”
“And will you succeed? Yes! You will,
indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed).
Kid you’ll move mountains...today is your
day! Your mountain is waiting so get on
your way!”
It’s time to think outside the box. This
week will offer campers opportunities to
be creative and unconventional.
It’s the last week of camp and we’re
winding down fast. It’s time to get
movin’ and keep on groovin’. We are
ending the summer in true 70s style.

It is also perfect for young children who are taking lessons for
the first time.
Pike
Pikes are still beginners but they are becoming increasingly
more independent. They are between being dependent on an
adult in the water and swimming in short bursts on their own.
Eel
Eels are similar to Pikes. However, they have gained strength
and endurance and can front paddle much farther with a more
refned technique. They can perform all tasks with better skills
and increased endurance.
Rays
Rays are becoming strong swimmers who are comfortable in a
water environment. They can swim longer distances without
foatation devices and are learning new stroke techniques.
Starfish
Starfsh are strong swimmers who will advance into the Guppy
progressive swim lessons when they turn six years old. They
are proficient at front and back paddle, elementary back-
stroke, and they can tread water independently. They work on
improving their endurance and technique.
PROGRESSIVE LESSONS
Polliwog 1
Polliwog 1 classes are for those children who have either had
no experience in the water or very little. They need to learn
basic swimming skills and boost their confidence in the water.
Polliwog 2
Polliwog 2 classes are for beginner swimmers who are gaining
confidence and have built up some endurance.
Guppy
Guppies are gaining even more endurance and should not
need to rely on a floatation device unless working on tech-
nique drills. At this level, the swimmer becomes profcient at
front and back paddle and breaststroke is introduced.
Minnow
Minnows are becoming strong swimmers. They are profcient
in all strokes, other than the butterfly, and are perfecting
their technique.
Fish
Fish are profcient swimmers who want to improve their
strength, endurance, and technique.
Flying Fish
Flying Fish are excellent swimmers who can swim all the
strokes. They are continuing to perfect their technique, par-
ticularly with the butterfly.
Shark
Sharks are excellent swimmers who are building their endur-
ance to be able to become competitive swimmers.
Porpoise
Porpoise swimmers are athletes and swim team ready.
