ABOUT THE INSTITUTE OF CORROSION
(ICORR)
The Institute of Corrosion is a Learned
Society and Registered Charity that
has been serving the corrosion
science, technology and engineering
community in the fight against
corrosion since 1959.
Key to this fight are the establishment
and promotion of sound corrosion
management practices, the
advancement of cost effective
corrosion control measures, and the
sustained effort to raise corrosion
awareness in all stages of design,
fabrication and operation.
The Institute endorses a series of
comprehensive and structured training
programs covering essential aspects
of the various disciplines within the
areas of protective treatment
inspection.
All ICorr courses are based on ISO, EN
and related international standards and
meet the requirements of BS EN
17024 – the general criteria for
certification bodies.
SGS Training and Examination Center offers Painting and Coating training courses and examinations in
accordance with the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr). The training courses are designed especially to prepare
individuals for the end of course examinations for Painting Inspector Level 1 and subsequently for the
Coatings Inspector Level 2 examination.

PAINTING INSPECTOR - ICORR LEVEL 1
Approved by the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr UK), this course is designed to prepare individuals for the ICorr Painting Inspector
Level 1 examination. The course is suitable for candidates with or without experience in industrial painting or inspection. It is
also applicable to those who require knowledge of painting inspection but do not wish to take an examination. The course covers
most of the paint systems used in the industry as well as other coating systems used for anti-corrosion purposes.
Painting Inspector Level 1 training is offered as a single 5-day course. If candidates successfully pass the Painting Inspector
Level 1 examination, they can join the Coatings Inspector Level 2 examination which takes a further 3 days and follows
immediately after the Painting Inspector course. Candidates who only wish to attend the Coating Inspector Level 2 course have
to either successfully pass the Painting Level 1 examination first, or take the full 5-day Coating Inspector Level 2 course.
PIPELINE COATINGS INSPECTOR - ICORR LEVEL 2
Approved by the Institute of Corrosion (UK), this course is designed to prepare individuals for the ICorr Pipeline Coatings
Inspector Level 2 examination. The course covers the inspection of over fifteen types of coatings applied in both the factory and
the field. The 5-day course is suitable for all candidates however, a 3-day version is available for ICorr Painting Inspectors who do
not want to revisit the subject areas common to both Painting Inspection and Pipeline Coating Inspection.
