Tariff 20 (Large) General Supply (Transitional)
This tariff is available for a period of no more than seven years from 1 July 2013. This
tariff may be used for all types of electricity usage. It is the most appropriate tariff for
businesses with predominantly daytime electricity requirements.

This tariff is available for a period of no more than seven years from 1 July 2013. This
tariff may be suitable for customers with a good deal of night and weekend electricity
usage. Electricity is charged at a higher rate during the specified peak period and
less during the specified off-peak period.

the maximum amount of electricity used at any one time. The chargeable demand in

any month is the maximum demand recorded in that month, or 60 percent of the
highest maximum demand recorded in any of the preceding eleven months, or 75kW,
whichever is the highest figure. This tariff cannot be used in conjunction with any
other tariffs.

Schedule. All tariffs, other than transitional and obsolescent tariffs, are set by the
QCA. Transitional and obsolescent tariffs are set by the Minister for Energy and Water
Supply.
What is a daily supply charge?
The daily supply charge, also called a service fee, is a fixed amount charged to cover
the costs of maintaining electricity supply to a premises, including the costs
associated with electricity meter reading, the provision of equipment and general
administration.
Do Ergon Energy customers receive an electricity subsidy from the Queensland
Government?
Ergon Energy receives a Community Service Obligation payment from the
Queensland Government to ensure electricity is affordable for regional
Queenslanders.
What is a Time of Use tariff?
Time of Use tariffs allow customers some flexibility to choose when they use
electricity. Electricity consumed in the Low Rate period will be cheaper than electricity
consumed in the High Rate period. When choosing a Time of Use tariff, customers
need to consider the time and application of power usage in order to achieve the
lowest cost option.
What is a Demand tariff?
Demand tariffs have a charge for the total amount of electricity used (kWh), plus a
demand charge (kW), for the relevant billing period. The demand is a measure of the
maximum amount of electricity used at any one time, in that billing period.
How is the load factor calculated?
Load Factor is a ratio of the total energy used (kWh) for any given period of time, to
your business's Maximum Demand (MD).
