R0ME at WAR

These profiles have been designed to be used with GWs LOTR rules where one model
represents one warrior. Although players will start the game with their models all nicely
raned up! they will soon find themselves amongst mayhem as you try to control each
individual model to retain formation and hopefully win the day.
Personal Hero
Obviously not all leaders were created equal, the charts below allow you to customise your personal
character. You may experience one Decurion, Centurion, Tribune or Legate to mae him your
!ersonal "ero to mae him stand out and give a bit o# personality to your pieces o# plastic and metal.

your hero receive the same mod twice then tae the alternative option listed* i# both are taen, then
roll again. Choose how many experience rolls you will mae on each chart be#ore rolling.

1 Fighting Reputation. The "ero causes Terror in his foes.
2 Commanding Presence. The "eroes #$tand %ast is &'( rather than the normal )(
3 eroic Fighter. The "ero can calls a "eroic %ight every fight phase without e*pending

4 !aster o" #attle. ,f an enemy character calls a "eroic Action within )( of your hero then
he may call an identical action without e*pending any +ight.
5 $mmortal. The "ero can re-roll any failed %ate rolls. .you cannot re-roll a re-roll/
6 #elo%ed. Any friendly model within )( will automatically pass any 0ourage Tests he has
to mae.
Weapons of Rome
The weapons that do not appear in the LOT1 rules are described below2
Pilum. The pilum is a short ranged missile thrown immediately before contact and is designed to
disrupt enemy formations and immobilise the enemy shields.

7othing has given me a greater headache than that o# trying to get worable rules in the LOT1 game
as the humble pilum* there are many ways to get a 8historical9 e##ect #or these weapons but they o#ten
become too complicated or unwieldy and disrupt the easy #low o# the simple LOT1 rules. /#ter a little
research : #ound that the pila was only really used ;ust prior to combat and thrown #rom the halt, a#ter
that it was down to sword and shield. )ometimes pila were thrown over the heads o# the legionaries
#ighting at the #ront.
/#ter bashing my head #or several months trying to come up with a simple solution by allowing the
legionary to #ight in two rans, partly due to supporting pilum and which can also be thrown.

Sling. "ighly silled with the slings use! the $panish slingers are 1uite capable of taing down the
toughest of enemiess.

halt i# it #ails to ill a model still in its path and then #ights normally in the $ight phase.
!onstrous Creature. / charging elephant that wins a #ight will noc all other models to the ground.
The Elephant cannot be trapped or noced to the ground.
