Housing Counseling Services, Inc. seeks energetic self-starters to provide comprehensive housing case
management and support services to homeless veterans and veterans at risk for homelessness residing in the
D.C.Metropolitan region. Salary range for this position is $!,""" to $#$,""".
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- %rovide case management services to veteran families on all housing and social service issues in
order to resolve pro&lems and improve their housing'financial situation(
- Complete appropriate comprehensive housing assessments for applicants applying for Supportive
Services for )eteran *amilies +SS)*, %rogram services(
- Develop housing plans in colla&oration -ith the veteran, identifying specific housing related tasks to
&e accomplish that support short and long term housing sta&ility(
- .ccess appropriate support services and programs +including SS)* and non-SS)* financial
assistance programs, that -ill assist the veteran sta&ili/e their housing situation(
- .ssist veterans apply for appropriate )eteran .dministration +)., and pu&lic &enefit programs(
- Connect veterans -ith on-going ). and'or community &ased case management services to support
long term self sufficiency(
- .dvocate on the &ehalf of veterans -ith landlords, social service agencies, etc.(
- .ssist homeless veterans secure appropriate temporary and'or permanent housing(
- Conduct follo--up -ith veterans to ensure their housing situation remains sta&le and to assess for
additional service needs(
- Maintain accurate -ritten and computer &ased files(
- %rovide accurate and complete monthly reports detailing service activities and outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- .t least four years of speciali/ed professional e0perience in case management'social -ork +MS1
-ith field placements may count to-ards professional e0perience.,(
- 20perience providing supportive services to veterans or at-risk populations(
- 20perience -orking -ith homeless individuals and households e0periencing &arriers to sta&le
housing(
- Strong oral and -ritten communication skills(
- Must have daily access to relia&le vehicle to conduct home visit and attend community meetings(
- .&ility to respond to multiple emergency needs -ith patience and diligence(
- Must demonstrate the a&ility to communicate -ith variety of professionals including doctors, social
-orkers, attorneys, and real estate professionals as -ell as lo- and moderate income families of
varying ethnic &ackgrounds(
- .&ility to translate technical information into layman3s terms(
- Must demonstrate an a&ility to -ork -ith minimum supervision(
- Must &e versatile in order to handle a -ide variety of duties(
- Sensitivity to the needs -ithin the veteran community and to individual clients(
- 4no-ledge of confidentiality and ethical issues -hen -orking -ith veteran populations(
- Strong computer skills.
