NEW YORK (AP) -A former State Liquor Authority official admitted Thursday that he
parlayed his experience into a business helping liquor license-seekers shortly after he
left, violating a sb-called "revolving-door" law for ex-state employees.

The Manhattan District Attorney's office also announced charges Thursday against a
restaurateur and application-expediting business owner accused of plotting to bribe an
SLA official; they pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors say no bribe was actually offered.
The DA and the state Inspector General's office have been investigating allegations that
staffers at the SLA's Harlem office took bribes to speed applications throu the
licensing process.
SLA spokesman William Crowley said the agency has been working with investigators.
Prosecutors say the probe is continuing.
Gjoffre '5 ple-a deal spares him prosecution for sending 10 gift certificates to SLA
.employees in December 2008, according to his plea agreement.
The New York Post reported in April that letters from an SLA lawyer to the inspector
general's office said Gioffre gave restaurant gift cards worth up to $300 to liquor
licensing officials.

Ex-state employees are banned from doing business involving their former agencies for
