………..A little further preparation for the ordination seemed proper in those days of
“correct habits,” as so often represented, and at the same meeting they “agreed that there
should be one pound and two shillings raised forthwith to purchase a drum for the use of
the town, and William Gaylord and John Weller were the committee to gather the above
money and improve it to purchase a drum,” but those persons were too slow or not good
collectors , for eleven days later another vote was passed to collect one pound and three
shillings “to purchase a drum for the use of the town and Jonathan Buck to gather the
money.”…………..

The “First Church of Christ” was organized by the council on the day of the
ordination of Mr. Boardman, and gave the call to the minister, which he accepted, and the
ordination followed. The record Mr. Boardman made of the organization of the church is
thus rendered:

Start reading at page 36; the author spends a long time reminiscing about William
the Conqueror and the Dardenelles without much evidence, but with some lovely
photos. This book can be downloaded for free; it is out of copywrite and the web
address is a good resource for other free texts about the family.
