Taskstream FAQs – Students

1. What is Taskstream?
Taskstream is a cloud-based (online) management system designed to advance effective
assessment for learning.

2. Why are we using TaskStream?
NCU is using Taskstream to help us better manage the assessment of students' knowledge and
skills. In other words, with Taskstream you will demonstrate how well you are learning the skills
and knowledge required to meet course and program outcomes so we can ensure you are getting
an education that will add value to you as a professional.

3. Do I have to upload my information in Taskstream? Is it a requirement?
Completion of the designated Taskstream assignment requires students to submit the assignment
as they typically would in the course as well as in the TaskStream system. The Taskstream
submission is a grade requirement and is due at the same time as the course submission.

4. Where do I call to get technical help with Taskstream?
For assistance with questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact Mentoring Services
at help@Taskstream.com or at 800-311-5656, press 1 for support.

5. How do I create a Taskstream account?
Taskstream accounts will be made for students taking courses that require students to upload and
faculty to score artifacts in Taskstream. These accounts will be generated the Friday
preceding the Monday course start date. Once your Taskstream account is generated, you will
receive an email from Taskstream requesting that you click on the embedded link in the email to
finalize your account set-up by establishing a personal password for your account. If it is
Monday and you are beginning a course participating in Taskstream and have not received the
email from Taskstream to finalize your account generation, please contact Ms. Melissa Helvey
at: mhelvey@ncu.edu.

6. How do I access Taskstream?
You will access Taskstream through a link in your course syllabi. You may also access
Taskstream at: www.taskstream.com, and enter your user name (your email address) and
password once you have had your account generated by Taskstream.

7. What is my TaskStream username and password?
Your user name is your email address. You will receive an email from Taskstream once you are
in a class participating in Taskstream requesting you to click on the embedded link to finalize
your account set-up by establishing a personal password for your account. If it is Monday and
you are beginning a course participating in Taskstream and have not received the email from
Taskstream to finalize your account generation, please contact Ms. Melissa Helvey at:

8. My professor informed me that he/she could not access my work, but I uploaded it. What
do I do?
Make sure you clicked “submit” after you attached your file.

9. I want to print my assignment/artifact on TaskStream. How do I do this?
Locate the print icon on the page that you are working on. Once you click the “print view”
button, you will be able to print using your normal routine.

10. Why am I not receiving emails from Taskstream?
Your email program may be interpreting emails from Taskstream as “spam.” Check your
unwanted email folder for Taskstream related emails. Next, check your email options for spam-
blocking software. Please add Taskstream as an “accepted” email source. Add
Taskstream_subscriptions@Taskstream.com and help@Taskstream.com to your address book.

11. I have a pop-up blocker enabled in my Web browser. Will it affect my use of Taskstream?
Yes. Taskstream uses pop-up windows to display information as efficiently as possible. In most
browsers TaskStream can be added as an “accepted site.” This will allow Taskstream’s pop-up
windows to appear while logged into the site. Please note that pop-up blocking software may be
part of a separate security software package installed on your computer.

12. When I try and click on a button on Taskstream, nothing happens. What is happening?
You may have pop-up blocker software installed on your computer disabling you from accessing
Taskstream. If you are not getting pop-up windows, chances are, you have this software on your
system. Find out what kind of pop-up blocker is installed on your computer and contact
Taskstream directly for support at 1-800-311-5656 (press 1 for Support).

13. What if a message appears that I need to enable “JavaScript?”
Taskstream uses J avaScript to enhance the functionality of its site. If you have received this
message, your J avaScript has been disabled. You will need to manually enable this feature and
then restart your browser.

14. I uploaded a file with my Mac, and now the file will not open. How do I proceed?
In some instances, Mac fails to upload documents due to faulty file extensions. If this happens,
you will not be able to open your file once it has been uploaded. First, remove the
assignment/artifact from your Taskstream folio and re-save it to your computer. Then, re-attach

the file and resubmit your work for evaluation – that should alleviate the faulty extension.

15. Is it possible to have TaskStream open in more than one window at a time?
It is possible to have Taskstream open in more than one distinct window at a time. However,
Taskstream has been having issues communicating data between windows, which at times has
resulted in a permanent loss of data. It is recommended to only have Taskstream open in one
window at a time.
