AVOID DISTRACTIONS
INTRODUCTION
Some of us get pushed off balance by the slightest interruptions at study or work, while
others easily tune out distractions. The truth is, nobody is completely attentive to their work
100% of the time–and we can all use some guidance or tools on ways to avoid or ignore
disruptions (Smith, 2013). Therefore, we created this application to help people get more
focused with technology. People can download this software for free on their phones, and
when they open it, they will need to set up a period of time. During this period of time, it
will limited thier phone’s functionalities, this will also alert thier friends that they are using
this product so that they can study or work. If they failed to complete the time they set, it
will automatically send a message to their friends saying they have failed the task. However,
if they complete the time they set, they will be rewarded some points, and these points will
be redeemable for gifts. Also, if some people are under 18, their parents could download
this application and link it to their childrens phone to limited their phone’s functionalities as
well. In this way, people could increase their productivity and try to break away from
distractions (Babauta, 2010).
3.1 Vision
To help users improve their productity and break away from any distractions.
3.2 Industry Analysis: Avoid distractions application Industry
Industry: Avoid distractions application industry. This creative industry developes anti-
distraction technology, in other words they can create all kinds of technology which can
help people get more focus on what they do.
Force: High/Low: Justification:
Buyer power: High Clients are articulate for their need & generally ask for
customized product. So switching from one product to

another is not taken place generally and thus buyers
switching cost is low where as it is high for buying
products at the organization level as it requires high
investment in terms of money as well time.(Software
Industry Analysis, 2010)
Supplier power: Low Software professional are widely present across the
globe, including fresher and experience which provide
employers high benefit to recruit at competitive salary
package. There is a large supply of trained and
educated professionals.(Software Industry Analysis,
2010)
Threat of new entrants: High Highly differentiated products or well known
brand names are both barriers to entry than can
lower the threat to new entrants. Differetiation
can be done in many ways but it’s costly for the
company. Industry offerings are undifferentiated
which leads to high rivalry. Industry players are
providing equivalent after sale services, which
includes installation , training etc. (Software
Industry Analysis, 2010)
Threat of substitutes: Low There is no substitutes of software. (Software
Industry Analysis, 2010)
Rivalry among existing
competitors:
High Rivalry among existing competitors is high
because software industry consists of numerous
players.
Overall attractiveness of the industry: The overall attractiveness of our industry is high.
Even though there is a vehement competition between the competitors, the motivation of

making this application is helping people get more focus and get more productivity during
their work and study can be worthwile.
3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs
The majority of customers of our application will be students and office workers. This is an
application could be more help in improving productivity and get things done with
efficiency. Moreover, it is more helpful to students than office workers, because students
usually have less self-control than office workers. They are easy distracted by other things,
like TV programs or computer games. Regardless this reason, this system also have reward
program which will attract students to use this application more often.
3.4 The Product and Service
This application is the product which stimulate students and office workers get more
attention of what they are doing. We will reward people who use this application for a
period time and they can use these reward points to exchange for real gifts.
3.5 Suppliers and Partners
In order to create this application, we need an advanced software system as a supplier to
support our application development. Also, we need network providers to put it online and
track customer usage. After set up the system, we will cooperate with Itunes store or
Android store to let people notice because they are well-known application downloading
centers. Also, univerities could be our partners too because they have our ideal customers,
students. They could discover this application and will be easier to get feedbacks by them to
improve our system.
3.6 Strategy:
First of all, to create this application will not cost too much as we only need a software
system to support us and it is easy to create a system these days. Also, we don’t need much
labourers to start with. Therefore, we have Low Cost as our cost strategy.

5

5
Also, our competitive scope is broad market, because anyone could use this application to
do anything they want not only study and work, maybe they just want a period of quiet time
or they want to go to bed early without playing with their phones before that.
The overall strategy is therefore Cost leadership.
3.7 Value Chain Activity:
The most important value chain activity for this business is Technology development.
As our product is an application, we aim to help people to get more efficiency during study
and work period. "Firms have been quick to utilize Internet enablers to link customers to the
design processes, promote collaborative, cross-company design teams, and integrate
physical and intellectual assets and competencies in an effort to increase speed to market
and time to profit." (Ross, 2002) Hence, technology development is very important because
we want to improve our application based on feedback provided by our customers to satisfy
their needs. Also it means technology development will help us be more competitive and
more successful to lead people choose our product as their first option.
3.8 Business Processes
3.8.1. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS - The Product Development Process is very
important due to advancing technology. Our product needs to have regularly improvements
based on feedback we received or contemporary technology growth in order to catch up.
Therefore, we need to develop our product regularly to make it more efficient to help our
customers.

3.8.2. POINTS EXCHANGE PROCESS- In our application, we have points rewarded to users who
complete a period of time of studying or working. Users may want to exchange points to
some real gift we provided. Points exchange process helps us to receive orders from
customers and we can check the ID and send the gift to our customers. But to ensure
security to protect both the user and the developers, the data will be stored through both
online systems and offline. The user's data in regards to location will be solely stored offline
in their phones, whilst the points and timer will be fully online to prevent hacking of points.

the latest version of system or fix errors it occured and will also change the features to meet
customers’ needs.
3.10. 2. TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT SYSTEM -This system will help us improve our application by
create a database to record everything occured in this system, like every errors and bugs
occured each time will be recorded, also every order from our customers will be recorded if
some errors occured during the process of checking points information. This is also were
security in both the processes occur to prevent exploiting the reward system and keeping
the personal security of the users.

In conclusion, nowadays the distractions are mostly from new technology, but technology
today is the single most important factor for businesses and individuals alike to become
more efficient and help you get more done in less time (How to Avoid Distractions While
Studying, 2013). Therefore, our products use this advantage to reveal the best feature of
this. We use information system to improve our system like improving customers' services
via feedback process, creating competitive advantage via updating the version of system
and fulfill the customers' needs and so on. Overall with the aid of this application, users will
concentrate what they are doing and break away from distractions.
