IV Any important innovations
DEVELOPMENT OF COMPRESSOR SAFETY DEVICE.
A number of incidences of locomotives catching fire have
taken place due to compressor heating up. This is mainly due
to continuous loading of compressor either due to puncturing
of intercooler tube or breakage/ abnormality in compressor
valves. To arrest such cases of fire, the compressor safety
device has been developed by a team of this shed headed by
DME/DSL, which shall provide indication to the driver in case
of continuous loading of compressor for more than 60 minutes.

APPARTUS FOR DC SUPPLY FOR RUN TEST OF TRACTION
MOTOR
Previously run test of Traction Motors was not being done at 2200
rpm because of insufficient supply of voltage. The field weakening of
Traction Motors is done by using this apparatus and Traction Motors
can run up to 2200 rpm during run test.

APPARTUS FOR TESTING CENTRIFUGE SYSTEM OPERATION
Apparatus for checking and testing cut-off pressure set for the
operation of centrifuge in the diesel locomotives. This will help for
proper operation of centrifuge and cleaning of micro particles in lube
oil in locomotive.

DEVELOPMENT OF TEST KIT FOR TESTING CARD NO. 254.
A test kit has been developed in-house for testing of card no.254.
This will help in reducing the failures of power transistors to zero,
thereby increasing the reliability of locomotive.

WATER SIDE FLUSHING OF AFTER COOLER
Diesel Shed, Ludhiana has started flushing of after cooler to be done
from water side. Necessary arrangement has been prepared for
modified & unmodified after coolers in heat exchanger.

SPECIFIC FUEL CONSUMPTION MEASUREMENT SYSTEM
Diesel Shed, Ludhiana has developed the SFC measurement system
for measuring specific fuel consumption of diesel Electric locomotive.
It is desirable to measure specific fuel consumption of diesel
locomotives after major schedule to ensure that various cleaning and
overhauling exercise have been carried on satisfactorily and engine is
having specific fuel consumption with in limit

GF CONTACTOR FEED BACK MODIFICATION IN MICRO
PROCESSOR FITTED LOCOS
G.F. contactor is very important circuit in DSL(Elect) Locomotive. To
Drive G.F. contactor there are two supplies in Micro processor locos.
i.e. Digital out put No.13 and 18. Similarly there are two feed back
going to control unit i.e Digital input no.32 and 49. If no feed back
from GF contactor is sensed by Microprocessor unit, it results in load
meter zero.
To overcome this draw back, this shed has introduced one more NO
inter lock in parallel by modifying the GF contactor

TEST STAND FOR CURRENT AND VOLTAGE SENSORS OF
MICROPROCESSOR BASED LOCOMOTIVES
DSL SHED LDH Staff has developed a test stand to test the functions
and calibration of current and voltage sensors provided in
microprocessor locos. It will help to detect the faults and
malfunctioning of the sensors and also for calibration of sensor during
major schedules of locomotives thereby improving reliability.

FIXTURE FOR BEARING OUTER RACE ASSEMBLY AND
DISASSEMBLY IN END SHIELD
DSL SHED LDH Staff has developed a fixture using Hydraulic jacks
for assembling and dissembling of bearing outer race from end shield
of traction motor.
This will help to increase the reliability of bearing and races of traction
motor, reducing cases of traction motor failures on line

STAND FOR TRACTION MOTOR ARMATURE CLEANING
DSL SHED LDH Staff has developed a vertical stand by using in
house resources for cleaning of armature during overhauling of
traction motor..
It will help in proper cleaning of armature due to dirt and has resulted
in improving the armature IR.
