Thomas and Sarah

struggled to get along. It

seemed there was always
something for them to
disagree over. The funny
thing was that both of them
seemed to make friends fine
with everyone else. They
even shared the same friends.
However, Thomas and Sarah
seemed to frequently find
things to argue over. And so
when they were teamed up
for a party activity, things
didnt start
out well.

que ambos tinham facilidade em

Thomas! Sarah
exclaimed in frustration. Im
trying to go one way, but then
you want to go the opposite
way and we fall.
And what about me?!
Thomas responded.
Thomas and Sarah each
had one leg in a large pair of
pants, and whenever one
tried to go somewhere, it
seemed the other was
insistent on going in the
opposite direction. From the
time they had each put a leg
into the same pair of pants,
they hadnt managed to get
anywhere; they were a heap
of legs, arms, and angry
words.
You tripped me!
exclaimed Sarah, accusing
Thomas.
Tiaguinho! exclamou Sara
frustrada. Eu estou tentando ir
para um lado, mas voc quer ir
para o lado oposto e acabamos
caindo.
Que diria eu?! respondeu
Tiaguinho.
Cada um deles colocou uma
perna dentro de uma cala
enorme e sempre que um queria
ir para um lado, parecia que o
outro estava determinado a ir na
direo oposta. Desde o momento
em que cada um deles colocou
uma perna dentro do mesmo par
de calas, no haviam conseguido
sair do mesmo lugar; eles apenas
mexiam as pernas, os braos e
discutiam um com o outro.
Voc me fez cair
exclamou Sara, acusando
Tiaguinho.
This is not working at
all! Thomas exclaimed.
Well, its not my
fault, Sarah replied.
Just then two of their
friends, Matt and Karen,
came strolling by. They
were playing the same
game as Thomas and
Sarahboth had one leg
in a pair of pantsbut
unlike Thomas and Sarah,
Matt and Karen were
walking along without
any problems.
How do they do
that? Sarah asked. We
keep falling all the time.
Thomas called out to
Matt and Karen, How do
you guys do it? Every
time we try, we just fall
in a heap!

Isto no est dando nada
certo! exclamou Tiaguinho.
No culpa minha,
respondeu Sara.
Nesse momento, Mateus e Carina,
amigos de ambos, passaram por eles
caminhando juntos. Estavam na
mesma brincadeira que Tiaguinho e
Sara ambos tinham uma perna
dentro de um mesmo par de calas
s que, ao contrrio de Tiaguinho e
Sara, conseguiam avanar sem
nenhuma dificuldade.
Como que eles conseguem?
questionou Sara. Ns s caamos o
tempo todo.
Como que vocs esto
conseguindo? gritou Tiaguinho para
Mateus e Carina. Cada vez que
tentamos, ns s camos um em cima
do outro!
Its quite easy, Matt
answered. We follow each
other. First Karen takes a
turn and we go her way and
then I take a turn and we go
my way.
Sarah, thats great!
Thomas exclaimed. It seems
weve been both trying to go
our own way, and thats why
we just wind up in a heap
again and again.
Sarah stood up. So, Im
just supposed to go
wherever you want to go?
Well, were pretty stuck
right now, said Thomas.
We need to find a solution.
We could decide together
where were going, and then
take turns leading the way
and yield to each other. If I
go where youre going, and
then you go where Im going,
well make it to our
destination.
I-I guess we could give it
a try

Mateus. Ns seguimos um ao
outro. Primeiro Carina d um
passo e eu sigo ela e depois eu
dou um passo e ela me segue.
Que legal, Sara! exclamou
Tiaguinho. Parece que cada um
de ns estava querendo ir em
direes diferentes, e era por isso
que no parvamos de tropear
e cair.
Sara levantou-se. Isso quer
dizer que eu s devo ir onde
voc quiser?
Bem, parece que no
momento estamos num beco
sem sada disse Tiaguinho.
Precisamos encontrar uma
soluo. Poderamos decidir
juntos para onde vamos e depois
nos revezarmos para liderar o
caminho e nos submetermos um
ao outro. Se eu for para onde
voc vai e depois voc for para
onde eu vou, conseguiremos
chegar ao nosso destino.
A-acho que poderamos
experimentar
Thomas put his arm around
Sarah, and she put her arm
around him. At first there
were a few trip-ups, but
slowly they started to get
the hang of it. Soon they
were walking happily
together to their shared
destination, arm-in-arm.
