Dear Ilana,
BDS. Just three simple letters—but with such malice behind them. They stand for Boycott, Divestment and
Sanctions, a worldwide movement to isolate and delegitimize Israel.
Here's one example. The American Studies Association (ASA) recently voted to boycott Israeli universities.
When the head of the organization was asked why single out Israel—a place where freedom of expression,
including academic freedom, is guaranteed—he answered, "One has to start somewhere."
Really? Why not Iran, North Korea, Sudan, or other leading human rights violators?
Because this has nothing to do with real denial of rights. It's just part of the global campaign to demonize
Israel. AJC won't stand for it and neither should you. Help us turn the tide on the BDS movement now.
Here's what we're doing to counter BDS:

Media Blitz
We have published op-eds and letters-to-the-editor—from The New York Times to the Chicago Tribune—
exposing the hypocrisy of the BDS movement. Our Facebook campaign to spread the truth about BDS has
reached more than a million fans.
Connecting Leaders with Israel
AJC's Project Interchange has brought academic leaders, including university presidents, provosts, deans and
Rhodes Scholars to Israel to see it for themselves. Project Interchange had an inaugural delegation of
university provosts in Israel just after the ASA vote; all of their universities publicly rejected any and all
academic boycotts of Israel.
In fact, Sarah Lawrence College President Karen Lawrence said, “I oppose this boycott. Academic boycotts
have the effect of stifling dialogue vital to academic freedom..."
One-on-One Meetings
AJC has reached out to key university presidents and members of boards of trustees to organize opposition
to the boycott. Several of these individuals, alumni of AJC's Project Interchange, played a leading role in
securing the rejection of the boycott by over 200 universities.
AJC stands up for Israel and the truth. But we need your help to keep doing it. Please donate to AJC now.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
David Harris

This is a group of students/faculty/campus workers/alumni of colleges and universities in the US who are
concerned with US-sponsored human rights violations in historic Palestine. Its purpose is to provide a means
whereby we might easily share information, store resources, and keep in touch.
