Level I-III Which burner?

In this activity, students will practice reading which burner is on based on
which dial has the corresponding circle filled in. Filled-in circles are found
many places (elevators, thermometers, machines, etc), and indicate when
something is on or off. On a stove, it is particularly helpful to be able to
read these indicators in order to be safe while cooking!
I do:
First, take out the stove pictures with 4 blank circles at the top.
Teach the student how to read the circles by filling in the correct circle
on each picture, according to which burner is on.
We do:
Erase the filled-in circles, and help the student to fill in which burner is
on for each picture.
You do:
Now, give the student the picture of burner dials and have them match
them to the correct stove picture according to which burner is on.
EXTENSION ACTIVITIES:
Erase the stove picture circles and show the student one at a time. Ask
them, Which burner is on? and have them show you the correct dial
picture. Swap pictures and ask them again according to a picture of the
burner dial.
If one is nearby, go to a real stove and practice reading the burner
dials on that. Use Total Physical Response and ask the student Turn on
this burner.
