Cerebral palsy is a disorder of 0o3e0ent= 0uscle tone or posture that is caused
by in>ury or abnor0al de3elop0ent in the i00ature brain= 0ost often before birth.
Signs and sy0pto0s appear during infancy or preschool years. In general=
cerebral palsy causes i0paired 0o3e0ent associated ?ith e@aggerated refle@es or
rigidity of the li0bs and trun6= abnor0al posture= in3oluntary 0o3e0ents= unsteadiness
of ?al6ing= or so0e co0bination of these. "he effect of cerebral palsy on functional
abilities 3aries greatly.
People ?ith cerebral palsy often ha3e other conditions related to de3elop0ental
brain abnor0alities= such as intellectual disabilities= 3ision and hearing proble0s= or
sei;ures. A broad spectru0 of treat0ents 0ay help 0ini0i;e the effect of cerebral palsy
