ACTIVITY NUMER 2 Explantion of the question tag (to be past tense) (5 minutes):
When you want to confirm some information you use the question tag. You use it like this:
- Carmem Miranda was a Brazilian singer, wasnt she? Yes, she was.
- Fernando Pessoa wasnt a Brazilian poet, was he? No, he wasnt. He was a Portuguese poet.
So, when the sentence is positive (verb without not) the question tag is negative (verb + not).
He/she was............................, wasnt he/she?
And, when the sentence is negative (verb + not) the question tag is positive (verb without verb).
He/she wasnt........................, was he/she?
Observation 1: The question tag always has a pronoun (I, he, she, it, you, they, we), never the noun.
Observation 2:
I/he/she/it was
You/they/we were
Observation 3: was + not =wasnt / were + not = werent
